Box and power suggestions for Treo TSX 12"?

Hey guys, picked up a Treo TSX DVC some time back and just threw it in my van recently and shelved the 2 Atlas12s for now....

It's currently in a 2cf ported box tuned to around 34/35hz and is powered by a Directed 1100d amp. It's a dual 4 so it should be seeing around 700-800w...

I'd like a good balance of low and higher (80hz) bass so I don't want it to be bottom heavy......Should I change the ported size/tuning and am I feeding it too much power?

The Treo site has no enclosure specs for the TSX and still says 2004:uhoh:

Thanks!

Jeremy

Sorry, guess I only mentioned it in the thread title....TSX 12" dual 4 and I have a dual 2 ohm for the car...

I did some searching around here and noticed some have thrown 1000+ rms at them but didn't want to cook them if it wasn't safe...plus the dual 4ohm is in the 2cf/35hz ported box....

Also, here's a dumb noob question but I've never owned a DVC sub ever...

The dual 4 is paralleled so that it gets 2ohm power from the amp. However, I just want to make sure the VCs to amp are hooked up properly.

I ran wire from VC to VC, pos to pos, neg to neg....

However, I then ran wire from the pos and neg of only one VC to the amp.

I've seen the RF pics where the neg terminal of one VC goes to the amp's negative terminal and the positive terminal of the OTHER VC goes to the amp's positive terminal. I figured it didn't matter since the VCs are in parallel.

Did I hook it up wrong? Just want to make sure...I don't plan on buying anymore subs for quite a while...

Thanks guys!

You'll scream if I tell....I'll preface this by explaining that I did some work for the owner of this now defunct car audio shop.

Now.....I paid a grand total of $80 with tax for each brand new Treo TSX 12".....

A friend of mine bought a used Diamond TDX for $175....

I also picked up a new Diamond D6 for $80 cash....

I also have a Memphis HPO 15" in the closet, a Memphis PR 12" and a MClass 12", and a PG Ti10 in a custom ported box.....I switch them out quite a bit and listen...

Guess you can tell I like to change things up but I imagine that's nothing new to anyone here:D

if the coils get hot, just back the throttle down for a bit and let them cool. they're underrated. you're box looks fine, except what's the port area? go around 40-60 in^2 if you end up with port noise on what you have now.

Not much....it's just a 4" PVC port tuned to 35hz....BUT, it was my first box that I built for a Memphis PR12 that also got quite loud actually....

Never heard any port noise but it's in my work van (Grand Voyager) facing rear near the back....

Jeremy

you might not be able to hear it because of where it is and how it's loaded in the vehicle.

are the ends flared? that will help reduce the port noise. but i guarantee when you squeeze the power to that sub, the port will have major velocity and nasty noise.

Yeah, I always heavily file and sand both ends of the 4" round pipe to reduce any issues....I suppose the music could be drowning out any port noise, but I forgot to mention that I also have a heavy blanket covering the enclosure, port and all:D

Could be why I've noticed a drop in output since first trying the box out...uncovered...need to get those PE bar grills on ASAP!!
