Box aimed up at trunk?

is it just as good to have your box aimed up at the trunk? so like the sub is on its back aiming up instead of facing the trunk?

right now i have my height at 16.5", depth 16", and length 35".. im worried that with this my subs will almost be right up against my trunk..

so now im thinking that instead of doing that.. i could make my dimensions like this in order to have the box set up so my sub would aim up at the trunk..

height: 12"(essentially would be the depth if the box is aiming up)

depth: 26"

length: 30"

would be around 4.2-4.3 cubes before displacement.. would that be good that way?

i hope you all know what i mean by the 12" height essentially being the depth? the woofer has an 8" mounting depth so basically there would be 4" between the back of the sub and the box.. is that enough of a depth?

Yes its ok to have your sub firing up.. In fact ive got decent results on the meter firing subs up, port to the side of the fender well on some vehicles...It just sorta depends on the car. And the rule is on the subs motor distance from any wall shouldnt exceed 1" .. of course, ive broken that rule many times and it had not much of an effect as long as the motor wasnt pole vented.

wait so if i have a sub with a mounting depth of 8 in.. its recommended that i have an 8-9 inch depth?

At least 9 inches.....but if you absolutely have to and your sub's motor is not vented thru the pole then you can even butt that motor right up to the wood if you want.

ok so if i have a depth of 11-12 inches there wont be any difference in the quality of sound or bass than if i were to have a bigger depth?
