Bought the WRONG sized speakers...

I just realized that the speakers someone recommended me and I bought today are 6 3/4" and my dodge neon holds 6 1/2" component speakers... am i screwed?

its a 1/4 of an inch bigger.

what is a baffle?

A ring to attach the speaker to, usually made of mdf. They provide a more rigid mounting surface and are also usually needed to get a deep speaker into a shallow door.

My neon has 3 1/2 dash but the tweeters for my pioneers are at 1 1/8

what modifications do you guys recommend to make it fit correctly.

To make the tweeters fit I just get some steel backstrap, bend it around the tweeter's mounting cup and screw them together, and then i screw the backstrap into the factory mounting holes.

Sorry for being a college student with little to no money 90% of the time. A neon is the best I could get right now. Thankfully, the knowledge I gain from going to one of the best colleges in PA will help me greatly down the road.

lol nothing wrong witha neon 34+ MPG consistantly....

and u should be able to fit the 6 3/4's...the neon's door holes are bigger then 6.5....u just need to take out the plastic adapter

I would still suggest getting a baffle. Seems to make everything easier in my opinion. I mean if you can drop it right in, then so be it, but in my case, I couldn't find a location to fit my tweeter anywhere, cept for the A Pillars and didn't want to mess with that. So made a baffle out of 3/4" MDF and fit both my mid and tweet in there. Came out nice.
