both amp channels blown

dam it, i've had this amp to power my front stage 6 by 8 pioneers (amp is a RF 200.2 and my friend goes to hook the speakers back up then they play fine just like they always do, i was settin the gains once again since he tweaked em //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif then all of sudden the speakers sound fuzzy and distorted, checked the speakers, even with a 9V battery and it popped up so they can't be blown, i'm guessin it's my amp channels are shot and i used a DMM to measure voltage and was at 0.00 even with a test tone, amp shot you think? he had the speakers wired on ONE channel and i'm guessin that was a 2 ohm mono load to the amp fryin it and killin the channels but it still turns on just doesn't deliveer power. tahnks to all who helped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sounds like low voltage, start the car and let the battery charge.

the battery was 13.8 at idle and 12.6 at rest still did the same thing

That's a simulated brownout for a car amp; either it's fried from it, a fuse is blown internally, or it'll work again when your voltage gets above 10.5v or so at the amplifier. If your battery is reading 12.6+v and your amp is only seeing 8.75, you have a serious problem somewhere in your wiring. Is your amp turning on, power light etc.? or just sitting there off?

it turns on and the power light goes on, and it plays but the signal is shitty as hell, and a DMM to the channels is nothin so the amp is fried i'm sure it is.

Sounds like the brownout killed it. If i were you i'd be looking into the cause of 9v at your amps before i tried a new one. Low voltage KILLS electrical devices; you've got to have the electrical to handle it.

Did you measure that 8.75V with the wires attached to the amp still?

Take the positive off the amp and measure it not connected to anything. I'm guessing you'll see 12-14v.

If this is true, you'll get a fairly large spark when you put the wire back on the amp, just so you know. Something is wrong with the amp, as it's partially shorting + to ground.

If you measure 8v at the power wire, disregard this post and trace that power wire back to the battery. You have a big problem someplace. Also double check that you're getting a good ground.

yeah the wires were still attached and the amp was on when i measured that voltage.

i thinkn i'll open the amp up and see if there are any burnt spots then i'll be able to tell ya think?

mhm, the amp has never done this before, all cuz my friend wired both speakers on one channel just ****ed it up majorly.

You didn't mention that before; what ohm load was that poor amp trying to run at with both speakers wired? 0.25 or some shit?
