Well from what I have been told, on the '96 Vette the front speakers are in the foot panel and not the door, so I am thinking I may not need to deaden it then. Thoughts? Of course if they were put in the door I would do it, but I don't see speakers in the door at all on this car. The only speakers that I would have on the door would be the tweeters placed up near the side view mirrors, and I doubt I would need to deaden an entire door for a tweeter.
If that's the case, then no, you wouldn't need to deaden the doors. Not even for tweeters. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so all that needs to be deadened is the hatch then huh? Looks like I am finding a whole bunch of ways to cut some unnecessary costs here! From what I can see I can get the head unit, the front speakers and two amps for about $lK!

I currently have a 07 Mazda 3 with BA Pro 60's in the front and the rears. Powered by a Alpine PDX 4.150. with the Alpine CDA 9887. It all sounds amazing. I would go with the BA Pro 50's and a Alpine PDX 2.150. You can get the pro 50's for $350 from Techronics. I ordered my pro 60's from them and the service was very good. Here is a link

Also the PDX 2.150 is $250 from them

I have 2 Boston 10" G5's in my car powered by 2 PDX 1.600 amps. If you put one of these in your car it would be sick. I run about 150DB with these 2 subs.

Here is the 1.600 PDX for $300. Cool thing about the PDX's are that they can be stacked and don't put out a bunch of heat.

And here is the 10" G5 for $190. If you want the 12" its $250.

Also I would go with a Alpine CDA 9885 or if you want the 9887 its awesome with the Imprint setup on it. The 9885 is $230 and the 9887 is $330.

http://www.techronics.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5625

So for everything it would be

BA Pro 50's = $350

PDX 2.150 = $250

BA 10" G5 = $190

PDX 1.600 = $300

CDA-9885 = $230

Total = $1320. This will be everything you want and more.

Also I wouldn't go with the older z5's or z6's. They use the same tweeter as the new Pro series do and really they just have a different sound (not better or cleaner imo). I like the sound from the Pro's better then the old Z's. Now the new SPZ 50's and 60's are amazing but they are also $750 is about the cheapeast you will find.

A link to the BA Pro 50's for $285/pr.

BTW, I would deaden the doors, no matter what. The resultant "gain" in noise floor would be noticed by the apparent perceived increase in volume. Also, there would be an increase in SQ that would be noticed at lower volumes. Anyone who has deadened the doors, will notice the lower noise floor at highway speeds.

150 per side is underpowering the pro's. i'd just cough up the extra 100 or so and get the superior set (z's) then throw them the power they deserve //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The Pros will take more than 150 W/ea. If you notice the manfacturer had dropped the power rating for the SPZ series that followed as their "Best" speaker set, the Z-series. The rating for the SPZ's is the same as the Pros. I think this was just to keep neophites from thinking their Rockwood Detonator amp was feeding the set clean power. The Z series can handle some serious power, but the Pros can handle 300 continuousclean watts per side.
