boston acoustic of MB Quart

Hey guys, this is my first time here. I just recently purchased a '96 Vette and want to put a new system in there. I have always had a pretty decent one in all m y other cars but am trying to make this one my best ever. I am looking for the best sound quality, clarity and brightness from a set of components that I can get. I have heard good things about both of these brands, but also heard that MB Quart has fallen off a little and that Boston Acoustics is better now for what I am looking for. Can anyone shed some light on this and let me know what is a better speaker for what I am trying to accomplish? I will need 5.25 components up front and 6.5 speakers in the rear.

If I go to a local store I am willing to spend around $300 or so on the components and about $200 or so for the rear speakers. I have seen that I can get the same speaker here for cheaper, so I may just purchase here and then bring the equipment to a local installer and have them put it in. At the end when my entire system is done I want to stay under $2k if possible, but that will include new amps instead of using the same ones I have, a new head unit, custom box for my sub and dynamat for the car.

What is the difference between older MB's and the new ones and how do the new MB's compare to the new version of Boston's?
They were bought out by a cheap company so they've used cheaper parts. Older MB's were still made in germany by the original owners of MB Quart. Now Hifonics owns them.

I think I just saw Hebrew Hammer selling a pair of Polk Audio SR6500's which would be amazing. But they are $400.

If your looking for sound Quality then they would be awesome

Another good option is the Boston Acoustics Pro60's and 50's. You can just do those all around.

I was considering the BA pro50's for the front(those are the 5.25 right?). For the rear I need 6.5 but I dont really need super high sound quality back there because the vette is a 2 seater, so the rear speakers are being used more for the stereo sound and as a fill in than anything else. No components back there. But I didn't see BA on this site, where would anyone recommend that I can get them from at a good price other than retail? Are you saying that Polk is that much better in clarity and brightness than BA or MB?

Boston PROs are nice comps
so are (from MB) :

either the PCE or QSD line

And why not focus more on the frontstage rather than the rears, if you are thinking about comps back there, i would just recommend to throw some coaxials back there or just dont have any rears at all.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com

They both have good pricing

That is the plan. The front will be the comps and the rear justa coaxial

There ya go!
A good coaxail for the rears would be the Pioneer REVs, they are solid coaxials, and will sound good even off the HU
Yeah, but what ever I go with up front(weather it is MB's or BA) I want to have the same brand in the back, that way they match up.

I also posted this in the general discussion section, but have not had any responses, so I thought I would re-post it here to see if anyone could give me some insight.

Hey guys whats up? My first time here and this is my second post. I just recently bought a '96 Vette and need to do a system in it. I am trying to decide between boston acoustics and mb quart for my components and rear speakers. I currently have a diamond amp and a concept amp but am thinking about ditching them for an alpine 400w mono amp for the sub and alpine 4 channel for the other 4 speakers and I want to go with the Panasonic CQ-C8405U head unit and I want to dynamat the car. I also currently have a concept 12 and will have some one in my area custom build a box for that to fit my car so that the roof can still go back there. Anyone know how much dynamat I will need for this car, what speakers would be best and what are your thoughts on the head unit, my current amps and the amps that I want to get instead? Thanks for the help guys.

Why not just take the $500 total for speakers and get 1 really nice set of comps for the front and not even worry about running rears? It's a Vette... no back seats. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

New Quart and Old quart are completely different its basically in the crossover more than anything here else here are some Qs like the ones i run for about 300 on http://cgi.ebay.com/MB-Quart-QSD-213-5-25-Car-Audio-Component-Speakers-Set_W0QQitemZ300162502563QQihZ020QQcategoryZ32818QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
You can basically tell by the crossover and these sound so good.

Thats not a bad price and they look like a good speaker but do you, or anyone, know how the sound quality in those compare to the quality in the BA pro series? I have seen a few sites where I can get the pro50 series in BA for that same price.
