BoogerMan's 12k Crossfire build in a 1998 Toyota T100 SR5

Oh right. Forgot about that stupid transfer paper. My bad.

I is non sticker/decal person //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Still got 3-4 Sundown stickers laying around my house.

Woah...boogerman is back?!
Yeah I'm still around lol. The truck build came to a stop because I had some other finances I had to take care of and am still trying to take care of. It is going to start back up again soon though (I know i've said that a couple times already haha). Hopefully by the end of the month. So basically with that said, the truck won't be done by SOC in December so I am just going to try to get the truck done by maybe February or March 2017 now.

A couple updates though. The box design is done. About a 3:1 4th. In order to save cost and time, we are just going to build between the wheel wells, but that means the box is going to be 25" tall and my bed is only 17" tall. So I got a camper shell for the truck. It will be painted black. I needed a camper shell for the round 2 build I do in a couple years anyways after 6 12's isn't loud enough anymore. Will probably do a full walk through up to the b pillar, but that won't be for a couple years.

I'll upload some pics of the camper shell and box design in a minute //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It happens. That's part of life I guess.
Things/hobbies come to a stand still when other more important things come up.
Yeah it definitely is.

Here are some pics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Good stuff man. This build is looking great so far (especially the equipment)
Keep the posts coming.
Thanks man! It's slow but it's getting there. Are you going to be at SOC or no? I thought I saw that you aren't going to make it.

The steel bracing around the blow through is basically finished. We welded some threaded rod around the back window for the multichannel amp rack. Camper shell is painted. Just some more work left to be done on the roof and that's it. Should be done by this next weekend I hope.

The box construction has begun as well and it's freaking huge! 6 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 2 feet tall. Basically a 2 person coffin haha. Brent is going to make this thing so awesome, I'm really excited. We came up with a lot of good plans tonight.

Baffles cut. Test fitting. It starts 8" at the back and tappers down to 5" at the front.

About time! Box is looking solid so far. Don't skimp on bracing though. Even 2-3 layers of MDF isn't' adequate for big power without bracing.
Thanks! Don't worry there will be plenty of bracing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks man. The box will weigh somewhere around 600-700 lbs unloaded. With the subs in there it will be around 1,000 lbs

Wow. Thank god it's a truck. And what a great truck to start with. They always look sweet lowered.

Dayum. One of the reasons why I went with birch...yeah it's more expensive but also less weight. MDF is cheaper, but has more sawdust when cutting.

Anyway, looking good so far. Keep the pics coming.

I was thinking about birch but couldn't justify the cost difference to save a little weight. If this truck was my daily driver I would have definitely done birch. And luckily I am not doing any cutting at my house so no saw dust mess here lol.

The steel reinforcement is going slower than expected. The blow through is like 90% done (needs a little more grinding), the sunroof delete is about 60% done (needs grinding, working out a few dimples, prime, and paint), and the roof reinforcement is about 50% done. The roof braces are all made but they still need to all be put in and welded then ground down. The guy doing all this could not get the braces to fit exactly along the curvature of the roof so he is having to use some shims to fill in gaps. It's making the roof take much longer than expected so I'm not very happy about that since he told me he could get the steel to be the exact shape of my roof. I don't think I'll be using this guy again. He said everything would take 2-3 months max and we are at 5 months and it still has probably another 1-2 months worth of work if he keeps going at the rate he has been. He is slow that's for sure. But it should turn out okay when finished.

Here are some pics of the steel blow through and sunroof

If you look closely you can see 6 pieces of threaded rod welded around the rear window. I'm going to mount a sheet of wood over the back window so I can mount the two 800.4s and the one 400.4.

All the deadener is laid for the most part. There are 2 layers on the floor, 3 layers on the outside of the rear walls, and 4 layers on the inside of the rear walls. About 150 sq feet so far. I have 50 sq feet left so I'm going to use that on the inside of my dashboard and on some parts of the door to decouple some steel that will bolt onto the doors. I bought 5 gallons of Second Skin Spectrum so the inside of the doors and roof will be coated with that.

And I had some fun with spray foam to stiffen up the bottom of the rear walls and the bottoms of the front doors.

Which part of AZ are you in?
That's the goal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I want as little flex as possible.

I'm in Tempe about 5 minutes from the ASU campus.

Idk if I'll ever be in WA but maybe I'll make it to a show that isn't too far from you so you can have a listen //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
