BMW 335i - Discuss

Test drove the 335i (coupe and conv), G37, and Merc C350. Ended up going with an 08 Maxima due to a killer deal but was leaning toward the C350.

The 335 was definately the quickest and most fun to drive. Didn't really care for the price tag especially with all of the options though. Their lease rates were FTL...

If you only wanted a car for a few years, leasing would make more sense than a purchase. Both have their ups and downs, but a lease is not meant for people who want to keep cars for 10+ years. A lease is for someone who isn't loaded, but wants a new car every 3 years.

Couple do's and don'ts.....

NEVER buy a new BMW

NEVER EVER EVER CONSIDER a Mercedes because they are chrysler POS...all of them except AMG

335i did 0-60 in 4.9 in car and driver I believe

135i...even though it might be a hair quicker, I'd rather not drive a shoe box

go for all wheel drive so you dont have to walk to work in the snow

I think the 335xi's are amazing, I hope they have easier modding options since they are turbo from the factory.

I took out a 335i the other day,almost had me but not enough juice in that twt inline. Non the less not bad. You might want to youtube this..... 335i vs they show the 335i vs 135 vs 2002 m3... Whatever you do,if you buy new,torture that thing and get rid of it at 70k. If you plan to keep it,like the post above me,dont buy new but 3 or 5 years down the line for a top of the line model say m3 or m5 in good condition...these car with mb lose half retail value in just short years.... Fantastic vehicle.

I disagree with going with the 135. Not much less money and you give up a good amount of space. If you were that concerned with performance you could get a BMW Z.

Hadn't you considered it?

Fantastic cars. Had some overheating issues under spirited driving. Most likely wont be an issue and likely has been resolved.

Fit and finish, build quality, etc. are top notch. Not to mention its a looker.

Why not?

I vote to steer clear of anything turbo usually, and this is a fairly new motor. So I would vote to get a slightly older 330i or a new 328i. Our non-turbo straight-6 in the 528i has been very solid for us.

No turbo = NO FUN hahaha but seriously, if you are buying a turbo car from the factory, they will cover the problems if any arise, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you bought a NA car, and added a turbo, that would be different, but almost every car manufacturer now offers cars with turbos, so I wouldn't worry about reliability.

The 335i is the nicest handling car I've had the chance to drive..fast as heck.
