Bluetooth not working

Recently bought a JVC KW-AV70 BT and the bluetooth does not work well. I can hear people but they cannot hear me without an echo that just kills their end of the conversation. Using an iphone 4s. Turned on the defeat echo on the unit but did no good. AT&T says nothing wrong with the phone, imagine that.

Pretty new unit and not much on the net so far. Just wondering if anyone has had this and found a fix.
