I have both an HD-DVD player and Blu-ray. I own about 50 HD movies and maybe 20 blu-ray as HD movies were cheaper and to me still look kick ***.

Honestly though I canceled my netflix due to me never getting the movies I put in my que and always on long waiting list, so said fawk it........and I had them coming in BR.

Any movie I have been renting as of late has been through Redbox.......for a dollar a night, you can't beat it.....as I only rent one at a time and take it back the next day. I spend maybe 3 bucks a week on movies now, so 12 bucks a month if that. Was spending 20 a month through netflix and had the 4 at a time rental and would get maybe 2 movies a week, but never the right ones. Thought about streaming from them though through that Roku thing. My parents have and like it, but IIRC, they are not new releases, just older movies.

Oh yeah and my PS3 upscales the regular DVD's.......they might not look blu ray or have the options, but still look dam good for a regular DVD and sound just fine to me. Would be tits if Redbox carried blu-ray though.

Blue Ray movies are awesome, there's no question about it but i just don't care that much about movies to switch over.

I have well over 100 dvds and it would cost into the thousands to even start replacing them. I love watching movies and DVD quality is plenty good for me. I don't need super high quality audio/video, plus all the other crazy options that they have to offer. When i watch a DVD it consists of me starting the movie when it loads up and thats it. I'm the guy that buys the basic DVDs w/o all the extras and things of that nature.

I guess in 10+ yrs or so when DVDs start to become obsolete i'll step my game up, but for the time being it just isn't worth it.

Yeah, I am that guy that just watches the movies and don't get into all the extras. I means sometimes I do, but I don't have time like that........I barely have enough time to watch a couple regular DVD movies a week. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

saw alot in this thread about how high Blu ray disks are and that when the prices come down more people will get into them. Everytime i look at the new releases the dvds are around 20-25 and the blu rays are 25-30....5 bucks a disc doesnt seem like alot to pay to me considering what you are getting.. btw i just got the new underworld on blu ray and the image quality is sick...

If you have an HDTV and a BR player then it's BR hands down... I'll watch a few of my old DVDs (Gladiator, Die Hard , etc..) but everything else has to be on BR or I won't line it up in my queue.

in a few years when BR discs are under $20 is when the market will start to turn.. If you have an HDTV, BR is the shit. BR is made for HD, and the enthusiast... SOme people cant justify paying $25 avg for a BR, not really a big deal if you want the best and are into your HT...

Example... This entire forum... Some people cant justify spending 100's , $1,000's No less $10,000 ( s ) of dollars on some speakers and screens for your car.. if you cant see a dif from BR to DVD , shit your probably 1/2 blind, but stick w DVD i guess.. As for some ppl might not be able to tell the difference from $100 and $1000 components..

I love blu-ray movies, and for a tech-nerd like me, I love the upgraded sound and video, especially when one has equipment to get all the use out of it. Here is my set up in my little room (overkill for the size of my room, lol, but at least I won't have to upgrade when I get a larger one [i'm currently in college])

BR is the way to go! Especially if you have a really nice HDTV, like my Pioneer Kuro:) A properly configured HDTV will produce night & day results between the two sources.

I don't rent or buy BR, I just download the rips and stream them with my PS3 using tversity. Still excellent quality, for only the price of bandwidth.

Oh yes that is a good TV. But for the price I got my 800u for, it was stupid to pass up.

I bought my TV at Magnolia AV, brand new, so it was not some ghetto internet sale. I won't say how I got it for so cheap or how much I payed for it, as it doesn't matter, but lets say you would not have passed the deal up, either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You must have your KURO in a pretty dark room.. My 7100 sammy is way better in the daylight than the pioneer and is still a lil glossy on the panel

I've been looking at those models to possibly replace my Kuro, but so far they haven't impressed me much, IMO it's a step back for me. The contrast and black levels on my Kuro still impress me everyday. I think the only thing I will improve on is energy efficiency:(

yea for sure.. real good deal on a excellent plasma... I saw those on amazon, red river, when i got my first sammy in december and they were around 1600, , my 52a750 was 2900 at BB and ended up getting it for 1999 no tax, free shipping and a 4 yr warranty..

Then ended up blowing that good deal by getting the 55" 7100 for $2999
