lol.. wrong.. 1440 ??? where the hell did you hear this from ? best buy? IF they jump to a new generation in the next year or so it would be a cinema hd which i think is 4096x2160 ( 99% doubtful , just due to BR being released , new LED's , the world is just now set up for 1080P! .. Thats like releasing ps4 one year after ps3 is released.. To much investment and not enough time for profit)

BUT .. thwe next "generation of HD , will IMO be in 10-15 years and its called Ultra HD, with a 7680 × 4320 resolution.. Now that is going to be beyond what anyone could imagine..

Ill try to find an example , but try to search the 2 in comparison , and compare a 1080p image or movie clip, to a 4320 resolution.. its unreal how 1080p looks like static in comparison
Let me know when you get your head out of your *** believe me the next rate it 1440. Was reading it in popular mechanics next year or by 2011

lol popular mechanics.. cute.. Your missing the point.. suuurreeee, some companies will make tvs that may be some 1440 resolution... What is it going to do ? upscale a BR to 1440? that would not be near the same thing.. Basically just an upscale of a BR as dvd's are now..

how long did it take for tvs to get out of 480i resolution? And you think something better than 1080 p will be out next year?? In what format?? NOt movies, Not streaming, not games, ( ps4, xbox3 ( 720 ) whatever it is this week , and wii 2 are all 1080p ) Not TV , hell there just barely geting 720p on some channels , with have my direct tv guide still in 480i

Not calling you a liar, just something that will not happen, or be useful until the next gen, which like i said will be cinema hd ( 2x BR resolution )or ultra hd (4x BR resolution)

half of the blurays i rent look no better than dvd quality, get a dvd player that upconverts to 1080p for $65
yup, i noticed this alot to... But alot is detail, far off distances clear instead of blurred, facial and skin tone, Hi speed , and disney type stuff nomater what is much better.. Watched finding nemo upscaled on my ps3 and it looked better than some BR .. But then again thats comparing apples and oranges.. A colorful disney movie, and a comedy with paul rudd..

But if you watch BR alot then take the same movie upscaled on dvd you will see a pretty noticable difference, in color, color brightness, shading, washout , and image blur.. BR is the way to go, and when the prices for all new releases finally drops below $20 , dvd will be on its way out, and by that time br players will be had at wally world for $69

How long did video tapes stay on the shelves before fully switching over to dvd?

I know i have seen at like barnes and noble , kmart, sears , barnes and noble etc ( non electronics/movie stores ) they still do actually have quite a few new/newer vhs tapes lol, crazy

I have about 5 blu rays. Their beautiful to look at on my LCD, but they truley shine on plasmas. I mean buy a few and go at it, you'll grow to love it especially if you have a good surround system. the best one to look at is planet earth, also I love the look of Afro Samuri.

Indeed. And if it takes that long for a format to disappear in the face of DVD, which was a quantum leap from the capabilities of VHS, I don't see regular DVDs going anywhere soon. For a lot of people out there (like me), the HD format simply isn't going to provide anything useful for them.

yea, i mean i had a ps3 and have been into CA and HT for about 10 years now and i just like to have nice toys Especially for sports and gaming sometimes.. So when i buy a BR its 99% of the time a perfect PQ movie.. Disney , hulk, iron man planet earth ( more as basically a showoff for people who want to see BR ) And people are impressed but once i tell them , well yea i got 3k in the tv, 400 in the ps3 and around 100 in hdmi's ( ty monoprice !! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) Plus the price of the 50 BR i have.. there like umm yep, looks nice, but do deep for me..

Nothing like a good movie on BR on a big calibrated led with the ol lady, lol It helps she likes it too, cuz if funds get tight she wont b!tch at me for buying it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I dont think there is any machines that vends blu ray movies? unless I am wrong?
I have been using Redbox and they only have the regular DVDs
the ones around here do

also another thing i see is people buy old movies on bluray and expect them to look good...

for example, like titanic from 1997 on bluray doesnt look that great... idk if its cause the movie wasnt filmed in HD or what.... but a recent movie like pineapple express on bluray looks amazing

so i guess that buying bluray versions of movies that were filmed pre-HD is a waste?

I might have to agree with you on this..

I got "gone in 60 seconds" in blu ray and to be honesty I am not impressed at all..

it is best to get blu ray movies of what is released recently or while BD was out..

t2 looked pretty good on BR, but yea alot of the older ones are a waste, but there also usually 10-15 bucks

where can i sign up for the xbox720?
Im sure Microsoft will release one hell of a next machine.

I just hope it atleast uses the blu ray format. Ofcorse a interchangeable internal hdd would be killer, but I dont see that happening. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
