Blowthrough in extended cab Silverado. Sealed vs 4th order.

Kinda different space requirements and sound signatures. Basically boxes on each end of the spectrum. What do you want?
Don't know why people dog sealed so much either. I'm willing to bet most that do have never attempted a sealed build.

I have tried both sealed and IB. The 15" N3's infinite baffle weren't louder than one 12 ported

i think hes saying that a proper sealed with subs made for sealed enclosures is much better than most say, and i have to agree. the bass was a lot crisper with a sealed box, but i get more output with ported even on drum type bass. its just not so fast or punchy

Personally, I don't like the sound of a sealed box. I haven't heard my subs in a sealed box to side by side. But I have heard my ladies Kenwoods in a sealed and ported box, and I prefer the ported. It was louder with less output. The sealed box does sound good, and does take up less space. Its more just preference. I found the ported box was louder and sounded better at all frequencies. The sealed box has a lower tone and more flat, less distinction between all frequencies, the lady really liked that so she has a sealed box. The sealed box was more "punchy" too. I also could send more output comfortably in the sealed. I was comfortably at 200-300 watts in the ported, and 500-600 watts in the sealed, the ported was still louder.

I think you somewhat get the best of both worlds with a labyrinth type port.

Yea I can design the 4th order. Its a friend going through a shop hes used before. Trying to convince him to let me design a 4th for him. Hes insiting they know what theyre talkimg about and wants to go sealed.

yeah its hard to have someone help you and politely ask for it to be your way but sometimes you have to.

tell him if cost is a concern for wood and whatnot and the first box doesnt work out that youd be happy to pay him a little extra. if a good 4th order is your goal then you need to factor in possibly more than one design

Here is a 6th order with 2 18"s we did two weeks ago in a silverado. This thing had some crazy bandwidth.

Again this setup is not for me. A friend asked my opinion and i immediately recommended 4th order. After checking with the shop he was gonna have install it hes leaning toward sealed but set up like the memphis are above ^^^^.

I recommende that too. But tbh id rather see him go 4th or 6th order since bedspace isnt a concern.

I'd strongly recommend ported, but if he has his heart set on sealed, it is what it is. IDK how hard it'd be to play with your setup with something like this. Is it one and done? or can you play with different box configs if you want to?

This would be one and done. 4th order optimized for music, mostly rap, and no interchangable ports
