Ranch, when did you start talking to people like we talk to you?

Could the OP by chance have the crossover settings on the amp on full? I would think that he is somehow sending bass to the tweets.

Could the OP by chance have the crossover settings on the amp on full? I would think that he is somehow sending bass to the tweetno it is in high pass it is fixed now and seems to be louder now thank you endofdays and everyone else that helped and my amp was set with a dmm with vol. at 40

ok and if u set your gains at vol 40 dont go past vol 40, and also i would suggest setting the gains at about 35 since u only want to use 75-80%max of the hu vol to set gains otherwise u send clipped signal

i found some resistor's on a old set of coax's but they sound alot better and they did not heat up after playing it loud

it took 90 min's and im going reset my gain later with vol.at 35 with a dmm i thought 80%was at hu vol 40 my bad

80% out of 50 is 40 but still some hu's will clip after 75% thats why i went on the same side and went 35 out of 50 only 70%

even if he did have his amp settings on full, shouldnt the passive xover filter out that signal before it his the speakers? i ran mine on full for a year before i decided i was getting too much bass to the mids so i turned the HP on the amp on. tweeter and comp set still going strong!

yea i had mine on full also and changed it to high pass thinking that was the problem but it wasent

sounds to me like your problem was you were clipping the signal. you really shouldnt go any higher than 75% of your volume, like was stated earlier in the thread. if you have to turn it up any louder than that then you need to look into upgrading to a more powerful set.

ok i set my gains with hu vol at 35 can i go above 35 now or is this my max and can i change the bass and treble now or leave it on 0

when you set the gains using that method whatever volume you set it to is the max volume you should play.
