Blown subs help

Here's what happened, I was listening to music loud and the bass stopped. I looked at the amp and it was in protect, and then saw smoke coming from the box.

-Sub 1 and 3 and sub 2 and 4 are wired in parallel, I have two runs going into my amplifier.

-Sub 1 makes a crackly mechanical noise. At low volume it plays, at high volume it knocks the amp back into protect. Makes noise when hooked up to a 9v battery.

-Sub 2, 3, and 4 don't play at all. No matter what the volume is. Same with a 9v battery.

-On all four, the cone is able to be pushed back and forth. I don't think I felt any scratching when pressing on the cone on 3 and 4, the other two I cannot reach. And finally, my DMM wasn't reading anything on both pairs of wire.

What seems more likely? That I blew all four at once (maybe because the amp protected?) or that the wire came loose from the shitty spade terminals on three of the subs?

If I had my car available at the moment, I would do more investigating, but I won't be able to look at it until Saturday.

I haven't taken them out to check them, but I will first thing on Saturday...

Had them for a month, finally installed them and had them playing for a day.....

700W worth of subs and 1200W worth of amp though...

I trust you set your gains correctly lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif why only 700W of subs?? why not get stronger ones or was money a factor??

I didn't set the gains at all, but I kept them low as shit...

Get this: I have a Eclipse CD5100 with 5v preouts, but kept the gain at 1/3 turned up (if that)

I got WORSE light dimming and voltage drops with my AQ SDC2.510D4 wired down to 2 ohm on the same amp, than with this setup, DOWN TO 1 OHM. The AQ 1200D is 870W @ 2, so the RE's were getting less than 870 watts for sure...

Money was a factor.

Didn't feel warm, I was checking the front two consistantly.

Still the possibility that the terminals came off of the subs, but that seems just as unlikely as all four blowing at once. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i think your subs just went out the windown bro. Thats what happened with my first sub set up had a jlw1 and got my hands on a coustic 600se(not knowing that this is a badass amp) and bridged it to the sub and about 2 hours of play with the gains all the way down poof my cab was like a smoke house.

And just my .02 cents but i heard the newer res weren't built as well as there past models but idk which ones you got so i could just be speaking outta my bum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah, but what perplexes me is how all four blew at the same time. Seems so unlikely.

How smokey was it? I didn't see as much smoke as I'd expect from four subs going at once.

Mine are the **** cone ones like in my sig, which are the old school ones, right? They were BNIB when I got them though. I thought they were supposed to be underrated.
