how do you repair voice coils...or what is the process??? im not going to do it...im going to have a shop do it...im just curious

remove all soft/moving parts then replace them by gluing them in and soldering the connection

well its a w7 and some guy told me like 400 bucks to have them fix my voice coils....is that over priced (i dont care if you like jl or not just help with my problem)

I don't think they sell jl recones

really dont have a say with pricing with JL. thats your only source for a recone really. also they arent fixing your voice coils, they are just replacing all the soft parts.

in the world of standard recones, yes that is overpriced though. most recones will run you about $100 or so for the parts.

so **** im better off getting a new sub then....well just to explain my situation...my sub rattles when it hits (yea the sub itself)....but when i put my hand on it, it sounds normal...thats a burnt out voice coil right??

it sounds like part of the glue has come loose

take the sub out of the box and look at the spider sounds like you may have come unglued.When you move the cone up check to see if the spiders coming off the landing or anything like that

ok when i do that...simply glueing it back should solve the problem right???
