Blown output on AMP??

I have a Phonix gold octane r 8.0:1 mono amp. 2 subs were wrongly hooked up to the amp and they were fried (positive & negatives were backwards). The amp will power on, doe Not go into protect, but no output comes from any new subs hooked up to the amp. How could I go about diagnosing the faulty part????

The inside of the amp looks PERFECT with no corruded parts whatsoever....I have used a multimeter on the terminals, but i do not beleive there is any ohms present. However i am not an electrical genius, so i possibly may have tested the terminals with the wrong multimeter settings....

No. The outputs are the transistors/MOSFETs that modulate the output signal.

ok thanks, i was confused with the terminology, i guess. However, the circuit board looks perfect, but I may take it apart even further to see if there is any damage on the opposite side of the board. What are the chances of having NO damage on one side of the board and flipping the board to the other side and spot physical damage??

There probably isnt anything mounted to the other side of the board.

I bought a blown amp recently that looked fine. When I went to remove the clips that hold the fets and diodes down, I discovered that the diodes had broken off of the PCB. $10 for some new diodes and the amp will be good as new.

Maybe you dont have the subs wired correctly?

ok, now what are the real names for the fets and PCB and I should be able to get somewhere with this amp

Hooking up the subs backwards will not fry them. What makes you say they are fried? Also did this amp ever work, is it a new install? Are you sure you have a signal at the RCA inputs? When playing test tones / music there should be AC voltage at the amp's speaker outputs.

hooking up the coils backwards will fry the subs. connecting the positive terminal of coil 1 to the negative terminal of coil 2 will fry a sub. Thats what happens when u rush to hook up ur subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif and dont read the fine print of which coil you are working with. So, im 99% sure the amp is bad and I was trying to get some good expertise on fixing amps
