Blown Amp

I recent bought an amp from devastating devastating_mat. It is a concept 2400. It worked perfect for the first 3 days then at low volume it made a click noise and started smoking a little and turned off. I turned everything off. I opened the amp up its burned on the circuit board. I was wondering why this happened? Its wired up to one DC Sound Lab Level 3 15" tuned to 28hz. Wired at 2 Ohms. Gain was 3/4 up. 1/0 Gauge wire.

That is quite a bit, but that alone couldn't burn it up.

Perhaps your vehicle had severe voltage drop ?

The only reason the voltage would have dropped is from the bass hitting but like i said it was on low volume, not hitting hard at all. I dont understand why it fried.

sundownz knows his stuff. voltage drop out of no where could have done it.

Can you take a few pictures of the affected area? This would be helpful in pinpointing the problem.

The red circles are blackish burnt areas.

Not pic of actual amp, and its the 2400a, my amp is the 2400, but look identical inside.

The damage can be done and it will simply fail later on when you don't expect it.

The failed parts are power supply FETs, which generally are killed by people with voltage drop due to either a gain setting too high and/or bass boost too high combined with inadequate electrical system support.

If my battery wasn't fully charged, or the amp sucked too much power from it, would that be a voltage drop that would kill the amp too? Thank you for your reply

yes it would...but then again u said it was at low volume so....what was the ohm load?
