Blood Pressure Help Anyone?

Always doctor-shop if you don't like the answers you're given. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif You'll eventually find one who will give you what you want.

Feel free to 'fire' your doctor anytime.

I don't think anyone is "jumping on top of you."
Just listen to your doctor and if you are not satisfied, talk to another doctor.

Personally if I were you and you KNOW you are going to loose some weight and get into shape I would pass on the meds and just put in some work and get to where you need to be.

If you are planning on throwing a few hundred McRibs back before you loose some weight then just go on them until you tone down a bit more.

if I gained that much weight in a couple years, my Dr would punch me in the face!

He 8itches when I gain a couple in a year!

HBP is nothing to mess with, as stated you are at an immediate risk for stroke, etc. I am actually kind of suprised the Dr let you walk out of the office with numbers that high (ESPECIALLY Dystalic @ 110) You need to take this very seriously and as a wake up call. You take in a lot of caffene daily? Sodium??

So, I figured there may be someone with a similar experience or a registered nurse or something on the board... anyway:
less than 4 weeks ago I had 170/110 blood pressure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif:eek://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif:eek:

I managed to lower it by a very strict diet and slight exercise to 140/100 as of today and it's been 26 days. I went to my doctor today and he tried to prescribe me a blood pressure med. My question follows:

I'm now exercising every day and maintaining a very strict diet and I'm really making a lifestyle change. I dropped 24 pounds in 4 weeks and yeah I'm pretty overweight (5'7 and 285). Do I really need to be on meds? I hear some people who take BP meds have to stay on them for life because your body gets used to them, and I never had blood pressure before. I gained like 140 pounds in 2 years, so I must'v'e had 170/110 for a long time.

So, do you think I can reduce it to 120/30 over 80 soon enough that I don't need meds? I'm nervous and I heard doctor's hand these pills out like candy!

Thanks!
yes, u can. keep doin what your doin and eventually your blood pressure will stay low because your body will compensate and keep it that way

why yes i am, aren't i;)
respect and respect for the few on the board that know what they are talking about.

These are serious numbers and as mentioned before.. this thread is useless at this point.

This is a very serious medical issue and the more opinions that are based upon nothing but medical hypothesis are worthless and even detrimental to the original poster.
