blew out a dayton 12" ho

I had a feeling PE was gonna take care of you. Glad to know you got your sub replaced. But, yea like stated, I run the Dayton HO 10s and I still have to say if I got a w7 in a box for $200 I'd probably be running that as well. You cant go wrong either way as for sound with them. I agree that Dayton would be very nice at home //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That made my 3000th poast //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/santa.gif.e1ec9cf2e0a0dd232ad35aa594a126d0.gif

Speakers fail because of too much heat over time. A failure after just 1 hour of playing points to a defect. I'm sure there is the right combination out there of terrible installer who doesn't set the gain right + idiot customer who will max out the bass boost as soon as they pull away from the shop, but I'm not surprised Parts Express considers the sub to be defective.

As for breaking in subwoofers, go ahead and do it if you feel the need, but I'd like to know which, if any, manufacturers have an official recommendation of a break-in procedure. I don't work with a whole lot of brands but I have yet to see this in a user's manual.
