Blew my right rear speaker for no reason?

Today i was driving and my right rear speaker apparently blew for no reason. Heard a pop then my radio got all staticy and shut off. Unplugged the speaker that felt blown and the radio plays fine now. Would the subs have an effect on the voice coil of the speaker unwinding?
