bit of a sub problem

well the first thing that is bothering me is my sub is not hitting mids and highs like at all.. it its the lows great but no mids or high.

second earlier today i was just playing with my amp settings and i noticed a static/white noise coming from the amp... i turned off the music and it was still there...

third.. some times the sub sounds like its flapping.. i cant really describe the noise.. but flapping puts it in the best terms

btw.. i have a 12" RE SX in a 2.5 box ported to 35hz and a hifonics bx1000d

any comments would help. and also i have no idea what the settings on the amp mean. i do know the bass boost and the current one.. but i have no idea what phase and subsonic are...

any help or comments would be great

well its supposed to at least make a sound.. i get low bass tones.. thats it.. only low.. if its not low then the sub isnt even moving...

im talking like light bass in some metal and rock songs

yikes, you really don't know what your doing huh.

Ok, set your low pass at ~70-80Hz

Set your Subsonic at ~30Hz

Leave the phase at 0

Set your gain according to the gain setting tutorial

Leave the bass boost at 0 PLEASE (unless you set the gain with it on as per the tutorial), unless you really don't like your sub much.

That noise is a poor ground.

muchas grascias senor.... yes i really had no idea what to do with those amp settings.. and the bass boost on the amp? if i turn it all the way down i get NO speaker movement.. so yer

oh yes.. and is setting the gain absloutely nessicary? i was going to do the tutorial thing.. but i dont have one of those little electric deals... could i still do everthing with out one?

in a ported box you need a subsonic, set it at 30 hz like he said. you have to set the gain, thats why there is no movement, and the SX can move. what headunit do you have? i have a SX in the 2.5 cu ft @35hz off viper 1200.1 wow i love it. as for fluttering or whatever you called it(flapping) you might be going to low in that box, what song does it do it on? like a bass song or what? it does it only when it goes low right?

it does it when it go's low.. not too low, but some what low...

i was riding with my cousin last night and he said he thought it was somthing rattling. but im pretty sure it was fluttering.

the samething is happening with my bro sub, he has a JL 12'' and a 150 watt amp but when brigded its 300w. The flapping noise is one of the wire in ur sub box its either the negative wire or the positive after we checked it stop makin the flapping noise.
