Big problem, can I upgrade like this?

I have quite a problem ever since I switched my CompR to "1ohm" (2ohm), yes I know I have a crap setup but I am about to upgrade to a 1,200rms system, theres just only one problem. Once I turn on the car (2013 Nissan Altima SV) the voltage will go up to about 14.5v, yet my amp will only run smoothly if the volume is low. After about 15-20 minutes of driving, I can finally turn the volume up all the way and everything starts working perfectly. I did the big 3(4) upgrade with OFC Knu 0gauge, and the battery has full fluid and the alternator is stock at 110 amps and working fine. I don't know what else to do... It's just 300rms!

you have a D2 sub and the sub itself has a switch to go from 1ohm to 4ohms correct? that is what you are saying?

if so for one that amp isn't 1ohm stable only2 or 4, so if your at 1ohm theres your problem for starters. your only pushing that sub with 150watts at 4 ohms.

is your gain completely up?

are your grounds on big 3 solid and onto bare metal?

Exactly

And the gain is at about 75%

And yes they are on scratched, bare, and large frames, not skinny welded metals

And I understand but how come after a while the amp and sub work perfectly, untouched?

This is not the way to do things, but its your equipment. If the amp has problems later on, you know why.
Aww cmon im not saying i'll keep it like that, nor am I saying that the amp is on fire or that I blew even a fuse. Im going to upgrade everything very soon I just wanted to know if I had to upgrade my alternator/battery/etc first

then you just answered your own question. your running things completely wrong and your having issues. HELLOOOOOOO. wire it to 4 ohms, put your gain down because chances are your clipping. You realize you are running a kicker on 150watts right? don't expect anything out of that.
