BIG car troubles..

k, so heres whas goin on with my friends car.. We played music just off acces. for like 1 hour during the day, keeping the multimeter on the battery checkin it every once in a while, we turned off the music at like 11.5 volts. So were done working on his car for the day and we go to start it and it wont go, wont even turn over.. so we check voltage, 12 volts.. So we leave the hood open and i tell him to try again, he does and sparks kinda shot out the + terminal.. so we tried a couple times and same thing, and when the sparks came out the voltage would drop to like 4 volts real fast, then boost back up. So then we try and disconnect his HU, and then we go to start it and it works.. now we dont know, this could have been coincidence but we dont think.. We had to wire the HU weird because some wires were missing out of his car.

Taking all the above into consideration anyone have a hunch on whats goin on? if it keeps happening were gonna take out all wiring and re route it.. but it just doesnt seem right.. he HAS started it with the HU on and everything.. PLEASE help..

i dunno if this helps but like 2 weeks ago.... i finally hooked my Apline 9813 hu and i have the wires in the terminal all funky and shit. Well before i hooked up the HU, the car started fine. Hooked the HU up on saturday started the car worked good. Started the car on sunday didnt start. So i didnt know what was wrong, and i need to go pick up my gf. So while im driving my moms car, i think and i knew some wires werent all the way into the wholes in the terminal, so when i got back i cut the excess wires, and everything, and now it works perfectly. So i figured i was grounding out my own wires. Turns out i was right. You might want to check and see if your grounding it out or something. Just a food for thought. Maybe its the same thin that happened to me.
