big alt=less HP??

1 horsepower =746 watts. divide that by 13.8V and its about 54 amps.

I'm not quite sure what the efficency of an alternator is, but that gives a pretty good idea of the HP loss.

 
no HP is lost due to an alternator, i don't think you would lose even 1 HP if you had 2 alts installed. The compressor will put alot more strain on your motor than any alternator or amount of alternators ever could.

you're incorrect, that power has to come from somewhere

and whoever said alts are 75% efficient is also quite incorrect, try less than 25%
