Big 3 with 4 gauge

I have a 99 Saturn SC1 I'm running a JL 1000/1 V2 on a 10 W7. I need to upgrade the big 3 and I have a bunch of 4 gauge laying around. Will this be enough or am I wasting my time? I also may throw a 300/4 in, in the future...

So I've read the big3 thread here (or parts of it) and I've watched videos on YouTube and still a little confused about doing it as it seems everyone does it a little different.

Do I need a fuse between the battery and alternator?

Do I ground from the battery to the engine block and the battery and frame?

Or do I ground from the battery to frame and engine block to frame??

Doing it in 4 gauge is fine if you don't plan on running a high-output alternator in the future.

Did mine in knuconcepts ofc 4. No more dimming or voltage drop. But, my system is under 1500 rms.

Fuse isn't necessary, but if there is a short you can start your car on fire. My Big 3 isn't fused and I haven't had any problems

Ground the battery to the chassis and battery to engine..

Zero gauge is pretty cheap, you should only need about 15 feet at the most, and 0 gauge ring terminals at Auto Zone are probably less than 5.00$

Fusing in the big 3 is useless imo, just make sure the wire is tight and you won't have any problems.

I went without a fuse for years, but just recently re-did my big three in 0g and after seeing how heavy the wire was from the battery to the alt I went with a large anl fuse just in case it somehow comes loose at either end, as long as the fuse is large enough it doesnt cause to high of an impedance to the flow and it's a good piece of mind!

It would be enough.

(4 ga far better than stock, regardless; 0 ga even better than 4 ga, plus gives you room for future expansion of ur system)

Unless ur competing or cheap as hell, fusing would be suggested....nothing to lose, and safety/security to gain

yep 4g did the job for a while but like you said when it comes time to upgrade the 4g has to go for the big 0g ,but yea 4g is a BIG upgrade from stock!
