big 3 wasnt enough;what next

I have a 99 f150 with what I believe is a 95 amp alternator, running with a basic everstart walmart battery (not sure on age). Im running a power acoustik a3000db and mtx ta7402 amp. I didnt get much dimming but enough to get annoying and when idle it was somewhat bad and my rpm's would drop by a few 100.

I did the big 3 yesterday in 4 gauge. I talked to a few people around here that said it would be sufficient because the runs are quite short. After doing the big 3 there wasnt much of a difference. Any reccomendations as what I should lean towards getting next? Battery or alternator?

I would pick up a nice battery next.

Always upgrade your battery. Especially in a Heavy duty truck.

Alt will fix the problem 100%.

Ill probably pick up an alternator sometime within the next few days then. As for doing the big 3 with 0 gauge I plan on doing it sometime just waiting till I have the spare $ to do it with. I figured id just do 4 gauge for now since I had a bunch laying around. Thanks for the help.

Also for a budget battery what do you guys think of the maxx start ones from walmart? They seem to be pretty hefty for the money.

well when you get the alternator you most def. want to do the 0 gauge then

you are going to want to preferably get a dry Cell deep cycle battery for a back up, such as an optima yellow top or kinetic battery....for under the hood look into an optima red top

just upgrade the alt and if you get a good constant voltage at your amps, why spend more money? a new battery won't make your volts louder

14.4 volts is 14.4 volts so if he is maintaining a stable voltage, why he need to upgrade a battery? the volts from a redtop are no different then a duralast battery. i figured this was common knowledge?
