What is better.

the Big 3

Chassis to Engine Block

Negative to Chassis

Alternator Positive to Battery Positive

Or

Alternator positive to battery positive

Upgrade the - on the battery to Frame

Ground the alt direct to the battery.

Thanks.

Just want to know if it is better to ground the all direct to the battery then just going with the 2 grounds in the

big 3.

The alternator is already grounded on the engine block...hence the upgrade from the engine block to the frame...its not going to make a noticable difference for the trouble of grounding the ALT directly...just ground the block...

true that, but i've only been able to do my batt to chassis and engine block to chassis. how big of a difference will it make to do the alt to bat? its like impossible to get to, i'd have to remove the alt.

I grounded my alternator to my battery (it is only 1.5ft away from the battery) and then grounded the battery to the frame. I would think that it would be better to ground the alternator directly to the battery. I would think there would be less chance for resistance with more of a direct connection. I think most don't do it because it's a hassle. I'm not competing, so it most likely won't matter unless you are trying to get every last drop of power out of your amp.

Most likely it hasnt made the difference that it should have done...it is ESSENTIAL that you do all three. Think of it as an amplifier...what good is a 4 gauge ground if your only running 8 gauge for the power?
QTRhorse, like I said it probably wont be a noticable difference. And your right, for a few of us it would be a hassle. My alt and battery are on opposite sides of the engine bay. I would have to use 5 feet for the ALT ground instead of the foot I used from the engine block the the frame...
