big 3 upgrade noob

I have a 1000 watt amp on its way and will be hooked up to stock car. ive done a lot of research and some people live by the big 3 in every application, whereas some say I wouldn't need to do the big 3 if my system is under 1200 watts.

I can buy 13 feet of wire for $24

I would think a little digging on ebay and you could do it for about half that shipped.
