I can easily say that because it is common knowledge that Americans are lazy ***** and only a small percentage 'try' at anything.

you ought to be writing books and doing seminars and workshops if you've figured out some way to get rich when your mother is livign off of welfare, you dont have a dad, you dont have the resources to learn a **** thing hardly in school, and you spend most your life just trying to SURVIVE, let alone advance in society...

True. I'm the son of an uneducated car mechanic. Many meals were potatoes and nothing else growing up. That didn't stop me from choosing my own path in life and working my butt off to get where I wanted to be.

True, it doesn't work for everybody, but for some there is a road out of poverty. Those that don't make it out of poverty serve a vital function in our economy as well....they fill the low wage jobs and **** on my tax dollar teet

Look, if there are kids (yes there are) who REFUSE to try in school and try to learn and give a ****...let them drop out, let them go grow up poor, but that's no reason not to at least give their kids the same opportunity and chance they had. How exactly are poor people ever supposed to make it out of the lower class if we can't offer them even close to the same education someone of the upper class gets from our public schooling system?
They'd have to find some other way...ie drug dealing...robbery...crime...the one in a million who make it rapping or playing sports...etc, hmm...

of course its inevitable, but we can at least try to close the gap, and do a better job of it. people always talk about how 'highly educated people should make more money', so in essence, the way we fund public schooling GIVES money to the rich people, and gives almost nothing in comparison to the poor

After my crack binge and rehab I would find the appropriate EXISTING government program and attempt to educate myself with a GED and maybe an automotive cert or something.

I would give up my dreams of becoming a millionare and driving a bently or at least stop hating on those that do.

Can these people not move from drug war and gang violence? There are other places besides the ghetto. There are nice places, even in TN, for low income housing. They have very strict rules about it...but it still exists. One could even move to the country working on a farm or something.

One doesn't have to be a millionare...one can be average income...

My father works at a powder coatings place moving moxes and my mother is a lunch room lady at the high school. We weren't poor though...but my father is much cheaper than me.
