Biden: Wealthy Americans Must Pay More Taxes to Show Patriotism

My father works at a powder coatings place moving moxes and my mother is a lunch room lady at the high school. We weren't poor though...but my father is much cheaper than me.
Not poor but you obviously are in a different tax bracket than your parents. That didn't happen by magic....it happened via hard work and dedication. The story may not be so grand for all people but it shows the ladder still exists in America....even if lazy poor people don't want to even attempt climbing it.

Im all for it. The previous administrations for the last, ummmm 100 years have been giving the rich tax cuts.
It sucks to be poor.
People are always breaking out their pitchforks and jumping on the bandwagon to **** the wealthy because they got a bigger tax break than the middle class and the lower class. The truth is most Americans have no idea what that means, and are coming from a place of jealousy and bitterness.

Do you realize that if they give the richest 1% of the country a 50% decreases in the percentage they pay towards taxes, the rich would still be paying 25% more higher percentage than the poor?

This is because the income tax percentage for the poor is somewhere in the

15% range, while the wealthiest 1% of the country give close to 50% of their income to government for taxes.

The richest 1% that got the bush tax cuts got the largest percentage discount, but still, after that discount, the percentage that they are required to pay is still nearly double what the lower middle class is required to pay!

So if you make $100 you get to keep roughly $85

While the wealthy are only left with roughly $50

Doesn’t seem fair to me.

If you ask most Americans how they feel about a fair tax system where everyone pays the same exact percentage, many people would be for it. 25% is a number that most people can agree on. If this is the case though, that means that the poor get an increase of 10% and the rich get a decrease of 50% while the middle class stays put. That is a much more extreme position to take compared to the bush tax cuts..

Put your pitchforks away and stop *****ing about the rich having so much money and getting such a large tax breaks. It doesn’t add to up fairness, just ludicrousy.

I have it out for the ppl of this nation that are able to work yet refuse to do anything but wait for their government check, then run down to the liquor store and buy their booze.

I try not to think about how much bigger my checks would be, and how much more I could benefit from my own work, than the slugs that bring me down. I make less than 12k a year at my job, busting my ***, and balancing it with school. Knowing that a good percent of each of my checks goes to other poor ppl, much lazier than me bugs me.

I think there are things we can do to help the poor, but not all of it should require money. There are many reasons people are poor, and even if you were born poor in America you have all the choice in the world to make something of it.

Life was never meant to be easy, and a majority of poor people take advantage of a system that has long bypast its means.

Social Security creates ungrateful hordes of poor people. I still believe it has a purpose today, but the system is abused more than it benefits those who need it. Sad, because if my taxes were going to someone who needed it I'd probably be willing to give more.

But with such a broken system I hate it.

And lastly, let's not forget that those who are already forking over 50% of thier income, aren't even eligible for the tax rebates and other benefits that they pay for, but are instead given to the poor.

Some people just refuse to understand that...sad really

But is this plan a permanent long term solution. With the economy the way it is (mind you the republicans are primarily responsible) for the way it is currently, I am in support of it. Once the economy starts to pick back up and gets back to normal then maybe there isnt a need for this but as a short term solution to fix the problems that have been created I think it is good.

I can easily say that because it is common knowledge that Americans are lazy ***** and only a small percentage 'try' at anything.

You've been watching Boys in the Hood too much.

There is no such thing as what you mention in America. Either that, or you can't decipher the difference between surviving and being 'hood'.
ive never even seen 'boys in the hood'...

you are focusing on one group of people, and it seems to be black people. You are narrow-minded as hell also.
:werd:

I would get two jobs.
I'm pretty sure I haven't even said a word about black people:confused:

meaning you guys are assuming thats who I'm talking about...

Do you realize how big the educational/wealth gap is growing in this country? Not everybody has equal educational opportunities, not even remotely close...guess who has good schools, and good teachers, and good educational resources. People in wealthy areas. Guess who has almost no resources, teachers that are either incompetent or just don't care enough to really try and TEACH. People in poverty. So explain to me how all of these people living in poverty or in the lower class have an equal opportunity at becoming successful as the people with rich parents or at least upper-middle class areas...
Victims of circumstance. Should the rich be punished for the accomplishments of their families? If you work hard enough, you can get out of poverty and into a better society. Is it hard? Yes. Was it hard for the original founders of these wealthy families to do it, you bet (for the most part).

It was obvious who you were talking about when you mentioned those that grow up to be successful atheletes. We all know that only black people are good at sports.

Who are you voting for? What is your opinion on this? Where do you stand as far as total household income?
What impact would this have on you directly?
1. If I do vote, it would probly be for independent.

2. I do not agree, the reasons are plastered all over this thread. I tend to agree with most of what others have said in their arguments against taxing the higher income americans.

3. My household is just me, If you include what I make at my job, along with VA benefits(education/disability) and with income from side work, I make about 3500-3800/per month after taxes here. In FL I only made about 2500 after taxes, but also didnt have to worry about paying for housing.

Me, I would be one of the people benefiting from this. But I dont feel I need it, I know if I was rich, id be even more stingy than I am now, and would be highly pissed about something like this. Also, my side work, comes from the small business that I invested in and am also an employee of (my brother's businesses). Which is why I wanted to hear more of what sundownz thought of this.

Answer your questions sufficiently?
