Biden: Wealthy Americans Must Pay More Taxes to Show Patriotism

maybe if they tax people who earn more than 200k a year. id be down with that.
They already tax them. Why do you want to tax them more than others?

I'd be down with just killing everyone that is poor. Then the goverment wouldn't need to tax anyone.

I agree that small business would take a hit. Also, is it fair that the harder working (perhaps not physically) highly educated people get taxed more because they have brought in more money? Seems like the rich are being punished for making smart moves financially and in life in general.
Under that assumption, your better off being lazy and on welfare. Funny thing here in Ohio. My food is trashed (been without power since Sunday at 4) and I would have to file a claim for insurance to get my food money back. Anyone that bought with food stamps gets it back for free. Fair right?
Do you realize how big the educational/wealth gap is growing in this country? Not everybody has equal educational opportunities, not even remotely close...guess who has good schools, and good teachers, and good educational resources. People in wealthy areas. Guess who has almost no resources, teachers that are either incompetent or just don't care enough to really try and TEACH. People in poverty. So explain to me how all of these people living in poverty or in the lower class have an equal opportunity at becoming successful as the people with rich parents or at least upper-middle class areas...

tax the rich business owners and theyll fire people until they make the money that they made before the government raised taxes...
great idea
This is another possibility. But, I dont know if thats likely with every business.

Why 200k instead of 250k?

This is what a lot of people will look at it as. Being punished for being successful.

He is right about the 'patriotic' thing...i mean personally I think patriotism is just a way of getting dumb ignorant people to do what you want 'for the country', but most of these rich white republicans claim to be so patriotic anyway, so why not actually do something...your country is in need, help. Or at least don't call yourself a patriot and act like if America fell apart you wouldn't just leave and go to europe and be rich over there instead...
and I think you just pushed the button.

So, by taking from those who take advantage of opportunity and redistributing wealth to those who didn't, we'd all be better off?

I see you'd rather troll people into the truth //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Probably a more efficient way of getting the point across though...

There is no such thing as that. Never has been, never will be, and shouldn't be.
Indeed. Trying to push someone toward education when they clearly do not have the background, finances, or social support behind them to maximize that opportunity is a waste.

Going to Harvard would be a waste for me...I am not in the right social class to make it worthwhile.

And to imagine, saying tax brackets should be even is a more liberal view when you get down to the reasoning behind it. If I was conservative, I'd say tax the shit out of the rich.

So you're saying the rich people should be rich, and the people born rich should be rich, and the poor people should stay poor...are you serious?
There are already mechanisms in place for social class growth. I think you believe social stratification is not inevitable.

This country provides oppertunity, not handouts. There are more rich white democrats than republicans. No body has to go without, there are programs that already exist to take care of housing, medical, food and a hand up through education to the very poor. Exactly what else are you looking for?

And you think this is okay? Look, if there are kids (yes there are) who REFUSE to try in school and try to learn and give a ****...let them drop out, let them go grow up poor, but that's no reason not to at least give their kids the same opportunity and chance they had. How exactly are poor people ever supposed to make it out of the lower class if we can't offer them even close to the same education someone of the upper class gets from our public schooling system?

They'd have to find some other way...ie drug dealing...robbery...crime...the one in a million who make it rapping or playing sports...etc, hmm...
