Biden: Wealthy Americans Must Pay More Taxes to Show Patriotism

At the end of the day the rich are grossing $350,000.00 instead of $375,000.00. THIS WILL NOT BREAK THE RICH, NOR WILL IT MAKE THE LESS-FORTUNATE RICH. No lie, i respect the fact that those who are well off worked their behinds off for what they have, but this is straight greed.
Btw this doesn't benefit me at all. my dad is in the 300K bracket(even though i rarely see any of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ) I just have no trouble helping out the unfortunate. I guess its not American at all, just humane
the top 5% pay 53.25% of all income taxes

when will enough be enough? I can't figure out how you don't think 5% of the population taking on over 50% of the tax burden is American or humane...or even just

I think your dad may want you to grow up. Why should you see any of his monies? It's clear that you have no trouble "helping the less fortunate" with your dad's money. However exactly what specific help do you have in mind for this money you do not yourself earn? Right now the poor can get free health care, free food and free housing and a free education. Perhaps we should buy them ipods and flat screens, but you'd be surprised how many of what you consider poor have got that covered.

It might make you "feel" better about your middle class upbringing, but it will not help anything for the poor. This is a very generous country, it is regretful that you portray it otherwise. You need thereapy rather than the rich needing tax increases, don't try to make yourself feel better throwing away my money and your dad's and anyone else who meets your line that defines rich.

I know people who are working 10-12 hrs 5-6 days a week just to survive. It's insulting to those people when the rich complain about tax rates increasing. They truly don't realize how blessed they are.

I would expect someone who worked hard from the "middle class" to understand

None of these people making 200k+ are gonna miss meals because of higher taxes....

Which is the problem with these "smart rich people"

they think the 11% is going to "people who don't want to work"

how about.......no.

that isn't what this is about at all, my good friend.

why do people always use that as their excuse as to why they cry about higher taxes?

"you wanna give it to...."

how about having more money for.....schools?

how about having more grants to entice small business growth in inner-cities that arent doing so well right now?

how about having more money to devote to developing new energy technology?

how about having the opportunity to help feed the hungry? (surely you don't have a problem with feeding people, oh, or is that "giving my money to people who don't work"?)

don't get me wrong, i don't think they government is almighty and the answer to society's problems or anything, or that the tax increase for the wealthy will fix ANY of the problems i named...but hey, what will it hurt to try? it certainly wont make the wealthiest 2%, down to the wealthiest 25% of the country miss meals or sleep outside.....

20% of someone making 250k is much more than 10% of someone making 13k.....HOWEVER, the person making 13k is hit MUCH harder than the person making 250k....

because at the end of the day, the 250ker is left with hundreds of thousands more than the 13ker.... im not suggesting everyone who makes 250k to live the life of a 13ker....

i'm just saying...

step outside of yourself....

you're complaining as IF you now have to live a 13k life.....you're still living a 228k life!

gotta cop the coupe rather than the sedan? tough.

at least 6-year-old Sara has a school to go to, which will provide her with the ONLY meal she will eat today....

think about THAT the next time you order a 26 dollar steak, and cry that the government is discriminating against you.

Once bond yields start increasing, maybe some of you will start being humbled and start having empathy for those less fortunate....

That's not even it. i never knew my father up until about 15 and me and my mother were extremely poor since she use to rely on him, so i know how it is to miss a meal, or not have bus fare to get to school on time, while my own father is living it up in a condo with his 19 year old girlfriend. now things are much better, but i'll never ever forget how things were. A couple more dollars to help the less fortunate never hurt. But i guess you have to be in a poor persons shoes to understand.

Thats cool, you don't think it will even work but you promote experimenting with other's money.

Don't act like your the only person thats been through that. I was in the same shoes growing up...unlike you though I don't want to overtax somebody because I suffered in the past. I agree there needs to be help to the poor but there are limits on who should be taxed how much. Its not the upper classes fault that our government over spends what it should and assistance programs are abused.

btw...just like there are plenty of poor people who are trying as hard as they can to make it...there are plenty of rich people who got there for almost no reason besides good fortune and luck, as well as obviously the fact many were born rich usually tends to help a little...

so dont act like all of these rich people have been working their ***** off their entire lives doing the right thing and its just paying off...we both know it doesn't always take much more than some luck to be wealthy, ESPECIALLY when you're born into it, as many are.

Not to discredit everyone who is rich, there are alot of people at the same time who HAVE worked their ***** off and made smart decisions and taken the right risks and become very successful, and that's a great, inspiring thing.

Your right....all their parent's hard work to provide a good life for their children means nothing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

What I want to know is what people want to do to get us out of debt?

Just keep everything the same until we are in so much debt that we get go to war with a country that wants its money or uses that as an excuse to attack us?

All I know is that this administration cut taxes for the rich eight years ago and the state the economy is in now speaks for itself.

How do you propose we get out of this huge trillions of dollars of debt we are in? cut spending? that's not gonna cut it. at all. this "pork barrel earmark" shit only ads up to 20bil/year.

but at the bottom line of this argument is just a deep seated belief each person has. basically it's are you willing to give a little so those less fortunate have an easier time, or do you believe that they should find a way to move up and help themselves?

no argument is going to change anyone's belief on this

True, it should mean something, but what's wrong with sharing the wealth when you have much more than you need to survive + buy things the average person cant even dream of

Like eggy said, in the end, the rich don't really sacrifice all that much...going from a great life to a really really good life...vs the poor who go from a shitty life to barely living

How about people who still live off of slave labor? There are plenty of completely unethical things people have done to get rich as well, screwing over others to get ahead...do they DESERVE it?

that $25,000 would not break the rich, but if that person can prevent himself from losing that money just by firing one person, whats stopping him? nothing. its not a matter of whether or not it will make a significant impact for them, but it is more important to realize how it will affect people below the rich.
