What's so wrong about having to work 50 - 60 hour weeks to survive? Have you ever met a farmer?

I have worked many 50-60 weeks on salary no OT and I am not even a farmer. Of course I wasn't happy about it, but it had to be done.

When I was in college, my PT job cut my hours (Lowe's) and I had to get a job cleaning restrooms 3rd shift at a truck stop. I have no sympathy for anyone who claims to be poor, struggling, etc. but won't "lower" themselves to jobs that Mexicans won't take.

It wasn't that bad of a job actually...usually nastiness and then you had to clean up vomit when drunk college kids would throw up in the parking lot...but then again, I met my fair share of hookers, too.

I'm sure you'd rather work sweat shop wages than have zero money also...that doesn't mean its a good situation, or even acceptable considering the amount of profits people are getting out of your cheap work

I didn't say it was a good situation...but there are things I like to buy and for me to continue to buy them, I had to get a second job.

I guess you don't get it. I don't care about the profits the business made from my labor. What I cared is that I was able to continue to my standard of living.

You never know without actually looking into someone's life up to that point...just like its stupid to assume a rich person worked his *** off his whole life doing the right thing and not being lazy to get where he is...yet he somehow automatically deserves it

If you worried about teh fact that the higher up you go, the higher the pay is.....you wouldnt work for anybody but yourself. With that type of thinking, noone would work, because the person at the top is making some serious bank. Who cares, as long as I get my pay, i dont care what the other person is making.

Well thats a matter of whether you feel you were compensated appropriately for your time and work, but I think its ridiculous that minimum wage is so low compared to the cost of living
