Beware AQ HDC3 Issues ??

What problem? To date I've reconed one sub in which the coil wire was burnt into due to clipping. From reading this thread one person claims to have a spider failure while running over three times the rated power in a poor box with the amp/s at full clip judging by the looks of the coil. 500 degree glue doesn't melt without excessive clipping at very high power levels. A third person says he ripped a spider on a 3000D amplifier. All I've seen so far is enduser abuse.
I have seen dozens of vids on utube and elsewhere of endusers running the subs on square waves much below box tuning for several minutes at a time at several times the rated power with no failures. Of the several hundred HDC subs in use three failures related to abuse is a pretty damm good record in anybodies book. Our subs may be inexpensive but they sure as hell don't use cheap glues or parts.
Here is the issue that I for see on the HD"C"3's future. The entire rep of AQ was built on the fact that the subwoofers (HD3's) were over built in the U.S. by Resonant and they would take tons of abuse and over powering. The HD"C"3 subwoofers are built in China and I don't care how much you tell them how to build a subwoofer your way! They will always go back to THEIR way of building subwoofers! Using different parts here and there because it is cheaper and easier seems to be the Chinese way!

I have seen several of the new HD"C"3 subwoofers and I have seen a few with poor glue joints. And it is not DJ's fault and he cannot check ever subwoofer for this issue. The more HD"C"3 subwoofers that are sold, the more issues will show up over time. But for the price you are paying for the subwoofers, even with the poor attention to details by the Chinese. It is a good product at a good price. It just does not have the build quality that they used to have and will not handle the abuse the HD3 subwoofers would. Grant it that they are louder (and the reason for that is the motor design not the build quality) but, they will not take the over powering or abuse that people that bought the HD3 subwoofers are used to.

Agreed 100%. i have given DJ tons of feedback on the C3. I have put countless hours of testing on them with no problems.

I believe that for the everyday 2k application the "Boat" version of the C3 will be fine. For those who want to just Nail then constantly with tons of power,,

I think DJ should just send a "Build It YourSelf" C3 kit..

But you were running them at about 1kw over their rated power' date=' some subs can handle a lot more than their rated power and some cant. What did you think was going to happen?[/quote']
he said they were run on a 3000d to a pair. so thats 1500w to each one, before impedance rise and electrical.

These subs definitely dont suk. i been running my HDC315 at half an ohm on my sundown 1500d and it pounds. i have never smelled the coil or nothing. U cant let 2 or 3 failed subs make you think that that particular sub is junk. Anytime things are mass produced then problems will happen. This to me is a good thing as DJ can investigate whats going on and improve even more upon a GREAT product!

wow i was just about to buy a pair too, i will get the word out that they ****, thanks
wow you sir are an idiot.... great sub all the way @ and as stated b4, maybe you should actually try the sub out b4 you bash

or just read of one spider ripping on 3k rms and thinking its a bad product

scobbydoo is known for ****ing around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

i wouldnt take everything he says literally or serious 100% of the time.

mine ran fine when i had it (although i only had it for a short time), so obviously my experience was very good. however it wont keep me from looking over this thread and other peoples experiences.

oh god....looks like the chinese are being, well....chinese, with the hdc's.
hope this doesnt screw over AQ, as i see a lot of warranty subs coming back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
I don't think the subs are warranted when giving 3X the power rating. User is taking things into their own hands at this point. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

did everyone miss my other post? yes, the OP's were ran off 3x the rated power, however there is another in here that wasnt.

to correct, it was a 3000d on a pair. But i know nothing other than that. i received them used in that condition.
This is what got my attention. If you received them used in this condition what did the user before you do to them?? Cant really say if the joint is giving up or has been Beat into submission.

i dont' know, all i know is he ran the pair off a saz3000d @ 1 ohm..

could be they weren't broke in or he just cranked a 20hz tone on em, who know's... But all i'm saying is its clearly a weak point of the sub.

I'm waiting on fi to get back at me to recone em to 15's.
