for just one type R you wouldn't need 1 ohm stability, and you certainly wouldn't need 1000w+. Something as cheap as a Profile mono for a little over $100 would work ok. Alpine also makes some nice, smaller 2 ohm sub amps that aren't all that expensive.

But I think now im going to be going with two of the subs, (Alpine Type R's, 12'') in a sealed box.

What kinda amp would I need, and aboout how much would it cost me?

Or would i just need the same amp as one from a ported box?

Get two dual 2's, and wire it to .5 ohm. It will end up coming out to be about 1 ohm, due to imp. rise. I had a dual 2 type r wired to 4 ohms, but it was actually 4.7 according to my dmm.
