I might put it in my silverado as a single 12, I'm considering getting two but it'd be way expensive lol one of these can handle 2-3kw I've heard.

I've torn these apart before and I can promise you that that coil won't hold more than 1200W continuous. Really with a single 12 you can run into mechanical limits if you're not careful trying to run 3K to it as well.

You're thinking of a different generation of XXX. This generation has a single short coil and tandem gaps so as these guys have stated, you'll want to be carfeul with power. Nice driver, though. Would love to have one of these motors.

I've owe more than 6 of these subs. You don't need more than 1500-1600. Anything over that is over kill and will destroy the sub. Split coil were the next model not the which will handle your 3k..

Thanks for all the information guys, I'm admittedly too young to be knowledgeable from when this gen sub was around. So they are a 3 inch coil, but due to their design they're not capable of handling the extra power like regular 3 inch coils. I still like the sub, I might just end up trading it for something more oriented to my needs. Seems like there's a lot of love for this, shouldn't be an issue to trade it or sell it if I need to.

Look into a re audio MT 3"vc that will take 2500+... This is one of the best sub made.

just so people know what happened to this work of art.

buyer came to pick up the RE today, we mounted the beast and wired it up. Couldn't believe the output of this sub! Very happy to hear it played before it was gone. His windshield was flexing substantially and the sub was probably one of the cleanest I've ever heard before.

While he was here we decided to mess around with a couple things and clamped the sub getting ~400 watts after rising to 2.8 ohms, once this thing breaks in and gets some real power I can only imagine what it'll sound like.

years ago I had four of these just in 15" models. I ran two of them on a Kicker KX2500 @1ohm and it was nasty for a low power build and sounded great. I regret selling them every time I think of them but then when I had them I was just a newb and didn't know just what I had.
