Best Wiring For New Sub

Hello all, this is my first post here in your Forum. It looks like a good place to roam- so you might see my name more often. Anyway, Ive been out of the game for a loooooong time, recently I bought my first system that ive owned in a long while. Its a Rockford Prime R250-1D amp and a Rockford 12" Sub R|2 Dual Voice 4 OHM. Everything went okay during installation in my Galant. My question is, with those specs, what would you say would be the best way to wire the amp to the sub with the voice coils and the channels and such. At the moment I have a jumper running one voice coil together, and the channels from the amp spliced and running together into the one coil. Considering its been awhile, im not sure if this is the best way- because I seem to be getting some not so strong bass and some feedback. Anyone have any suggestions? id greatly appreciate it. Thank you ahead of time. If you need more information, just let me know.
