Best way to remove old ca glue?

Hey guys im getting ready to recone my Hdc 3 15, and I'm just wondering how you guys get the old ca glue off the spider/surround landings?

grinder with a wire wheel. or acetone but that makes a huge mess. it's hard to keep enough on there to soften the glue aswell because acetone evaporates uber quick.

You can scrape it off with a utility knife in under 30 minutes. Angle grinder is easiest but you need to be careful because it's pretty easy to tear up the metal.

Go to your local hobby shop, find a bottle of De-Bonder or something similar to that. It's in the same bottle as CA, it won't damage the cone or anything that it comes contact too. Just a couple of drops and wait a bout 30 seconds, CA turns into jelly soft enough to release it's bond. It doesn't dissolve it, it just turns into jelly and dry up again.

I used a 1/4" angle grinder with those 3m abrasive pads like they use for gasket removal and that worked very well for me.

Try one of these should work well 4-1/2 in. 120 Grit Flap Disc

I've tried the debonder stuff and it does eat up surrounds.

Get a dremel or a grinder. Make sure you wear a mask and do it in open environment cus that stuff isn't good to breathe in.

x2 on flapper disc....60-120 grit, just don't push down too hard as it will eat up the alum basket pretty quickly. Also dremel with a sanding roll will work...

Thanks for the info guys. Used my dremel as i already had one. Don't know why I didn't think to use it before hand.
