best way to lengthen 0 guage?

If you don't mind being a little ghetto, use strippers and a hose clamp and a lot of electrical tape... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I work in Engineering for a TV station. Due to outsourcing of IT, I had to babysit a Cisco OS upgrade after one of our core routers DIED.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rage.gif.0ad8a6e5565b5fddce406566fdd05149.gif
how long did it take you to install the upgrade? also what was the model# on the router, I took the cisco course about 5 years ago I`m a little rusty since I work as a network admin I don`t have to deal with the routers we have a company that does that,

cisco has changed dramaticly in the last 5 years. i believe its on its 3rd revision since then. the first and the last one were very dramatic changes. this last one has just finished being written about a month and a half ago. i finished up most of my CCNA but i switched and started getting my certs for IT security/Data assurance...

Hello/

As mentioned before,Stinger makes a *Coupler* for 4-Gauge and 1/0 Cable. It has Set Screws on either end.I would use "Adhesive Shrink Tubing" to cover it once you're done coupling both cables.

If you want to make sure(And not have to look back) the set screws stay put.Get a small bottle of LocTite "ThreadLoker" in the Blue color, put alittle on the threads of the set screws than tighten the screws down.Or you can use a quick, short burst of rattle can Spray paint on the threads also,as the LocTite is not all that cheap. The paint works good too.Good Luck with your system.

Regards/

Raymond/:)

two of the 4000 series cores went as planned, like 5 minutes or so. the most important one however was stubborn and took from 10:30 pm to 3:40 am and I, the non-Cisco, non networking engineer, had to make troubleshooting suggestions to move things along.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

large contact incompetency issue now.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif we used to have our own corporate router guys, they got laid off during the outsourcing.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif :verymad:

Not needed if the joint is inside the car. Makes reusing the butt splicer all but impossible. Regular heatshrink is just fine.

Blue Loctite is almost a required item if you work on stuff much at all or even for the odd hooushold repair. It isn't needed in this case though. The wire acts as a lock washer and will keep the grub screw from backing out. The heatshrink will kep it from going anywhere, too.
