well ive been prowling these forums trying to learn as much as i can, well im still pretty dang confused. i think i have a head unit picked out, now all i need to figure out is what subs and amp to get. i have a friend who is pretty good with building boxes. the vehicle in question is a 01 F250 extended cab truck. i would like 2 12's under the back seat but will probably have to go with 2 10's. im looking at about 9 inches tall at the most, 12-15 inches deep and 36 to 40 inches wide. these are all estimates, cant get outside to measure, im watching both my boys so i cant get outside. guess i would like everyones opinions on what the best sub would be for a small space and also what amp to run them with. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

mj-tc, "Do you want SQ SQL or SPL." i have no idea what that means, i am brand brand new, very wet behind the ears. as far as cost goes, maybe 90 to 100 bucks each if thats possible. ill probably have people rolling on the floor b/c i am clueless. sorry, dont pick on the new guy lol.

SQ - sound quality, blending well with the front stage, sounding musical

SPL - sheer volume, better suited for rap, just pure output with no concern for musicality.

As for the drivers, I'd check out either Acoustic Elegance's 10" driver or Pioneer's shallow mount series...

thanks for the explanation;). i guess i want both. i listen to everything from hip hop to country to rock. might be kind of hard to get everything. also another question about amps. i see bridged and non bridged i guess you would call it. it looks like if ya want 300 x 1 its pretty $$$$, but if you go 150 x 2 bridged the $$$ price comes down a lil bit. fill me in on this.

Hey if you want sound quality (SQ) for about 180 dollars you can get 2 twelve inch infinity kappa perfects 12.1 at crutchfield and that comes with free shipping.

I just ordered two of them but i dont have them yet but they are suppose to bump pretty well two. If you want to watch a video on these go to http://www.realmofexcursion.com and click on video and then go to infinity.

For your box sound quality (SQ) Sounds better in a sealed box. These speakers only need 1 cubic foot each. You would have plenty of room but when you put those speakers on I would put a good waffle grill for protection.

I wouldn't get rockford subs I heard they blow easy and I think you could fit those 12's for about the same price and you would then have good sound and more bass because there bigger and all of there stats are better.

If you want to get good amps get Hifonics, also Kicker amps for there estimated RMS put out more and if you put your amps in a tight place you will want them to be fan cooled which means they have a fan built inside and alot a Kicker amps have that.
