Best subs for the price? Upgrading from Sony XPLOD's

And that's the truth.
Hi everyone

I currently have two 12" Sony Xplod's in my car right now. They do kick ***, but I know that they're not going to last a while. I'm interested in getting some more powerful, better-made subs. I want two 12" subs again, but I'm not sure which ones to get.

I know only some of the "good brand"ed subwoofers, like JL, JBL, Phoenix Gold, Rockford, and MTX. I haven't heard anything about any other brands

The best I could find were these. I have found them online for $65/each. Not a bad price at all for two nice, competition subs.

I'm sure that switching my Xplod's for these will be a great improvement, but I thought I'd ask everyone for their advice. Are there any other subs I should look into? My price range is around $200 total (which is why those PG ones are so appealing).

Thanks

loll. how much power do you have to work with?
I have a Sony Xplod (this is my first system, bought around 9 months ago) that's putting out 800W peak, around 200RMS. It's powering my current subs which are 300RMS each just fine. I'm planning on upgrading that as well in the near future.

You would be better off saving up for the amp and the subs together. Purchasing a sub right now would not benefit you due to your available power. When you are ready to purchase both it would be much easier to decide on what would fit your needs.

tahts seriously underpowering your subwoofers... but then again, they're xplods so they probably explode with the rated RMS power...

x2 you need to decide how much power your gonna run first. say you want to keep stock electrical and run only 1k watts or less. find an amp that puts out whatever power at whatever impedence etc. then match subs to amp power. your not gonna be getting louder by just putting 2 differnet 12's on such low power. especially if say the sensitivity rating is lower etc

You need to search around here. You'll find out that xplods are pretty much the shittiest subs out there.

Most of those other brands you named arent' very good either, but of course that is a very general statement.

There ARE many other subs you can get that'd be great for the same money. Just look around this forum and get the hang of things. For one, a 200 watt amp isn't going to get you very far at all (my front speakers alone are getting that much...).

A good budget setup would be something like an RE SE and a 600-800 watt amp. You could probably find those for around 300 for both.

Good brand to look into are Fi, RE, Incriminator, Audioque, Sundown, etcetc.

Ok guys thanks for all the advice. I'm pretty new to car audio.

When the time comes, when I have money for the amp too, do I just find one that matches the RMS power (or probably a little less) for the subs I have picked out?

edit-

Also, some local pawn shops have some nice amps (from what I know) for around $120. They're used, but they're name brands that are powerful (one is around 1000W rms). Is that just bad joojoo buying from a pawn shop?
