Best sub + port orientation for vehicle with fold down seats?

Honda + Subs = Rattles :(
I guess the title kind of says it. But basically, what are the best options for having a ported box in a vehicle with fold down seats? The box will be sealed off from the trunk with a panel that closes in the gaps of the box sealing the ports to only the cabin. I guess my question is... would it be better to have subs facing up, sealed into the trunk and the ports facing forward into the car? Or.... the subs AND the ports both facing forward into the car with the box sealed into the trunk. Having ports coming up through the rear deck is not an option as I don't want to cut any metal on this car.

And as a side note, lets say I need to have people in the back seats of my car... if I fold up the seats, granted the seats aren't physically hitting the subwoofer or surround, is there any damage or anything that can be caused by driving the subwoofers with the seat folded up. I just kind of assumed that with the seat up, it would be like a way-to-big sealed box or if some air can get through the armrest opening, it would just be a bit more constricted and lower the tuning frequency.

I'm not too much concerned about the tuning or if it will sound bad with the seats up, just so long as I can not worry about damaging my subs thru lack of dampening.

Sorry for the wall of text. Any suggestions would be appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Subs and port forward into the cabin. I did it and it sounded awesome. Seal it off from the trunk and your good to go. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Hmmm, so many different suggestions.....confused.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

EDIT: almost forgot. What happens if subs are facing forwards as well as the port and I fold up seats? I'm just guessing lower tuning because of the extra dampening. I won't damage the subs though will I?

My way is the only way to go //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

you have to use 18's too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

actually it'd be a hell of a lot easier with some 12's or 15's or a single sub

Which is........//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryexcited.gif.c26a15f316d23068607f36ddacd7a7ab.gif

EDIT: nvm, pictures weren't up yet....

If you read first post, I said I can't have ports coming through the rear deck. Nice setup though. I don't have near enough space, or amp power (or money for that matter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif) to do 2 18's. It's probably gonna be two 12's or something like that.

It's all about personal taste, in case you haven't noticed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Try it out a few different ways and see which you like best.

ALL TEH BAZZ MADE UR SUB SIDEWAYZ LOL

But seriously, that kinda bothers me :twitch:

I just noticed how low that box is tuned... is that like 25? O_O

lots of port area does not = low tuning //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

In fact it requires tons of depth to get low tuning with a big port

like that. That box may be in the low 40hz or high 30hz tuning wise.

Edit:

his sig says the box is 41hz.
