Best sub for my application?

a TC OEM is a sub made by TC Sounds when they were still around. They tend to go up on the forum quite often, but I generally see 10"s. Maybe I just don't pay attention though.
Also by 12" single max I think he meant most you should do is a single 12", not more.

I forgot all about the RL-p by soundsplinter, look into those. Great subs sealed or ported.
I had a single 15" rl-p some time ago. It was ok, but I think the box was way to big for it.

Trunk. I'm actually using a budget Dayton sub for my home theater.
Alright, if you're going to be looking for something sq oriented, I would definately plan to put aside some money for sound deadening in the trunk. Especially if you listen to music with lots of low bass. Nothing ruins an sq system like a nice squeak/rattle.

That's the plan right now. Squeaks, rattles, etc. bug me to no end.

So let me recap. I'm looking at the following sites...

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/

Where is info on the Fi Q others have mentioned? Also, will a 15" have a lower frequency range than a 12"? Will a 15" fit with my box restricted to 15.5" height?

If you're not worried about spl, the difference in the 12" and 15" wont matter. Just stick with a 12". Here's the link to the Fi Q...

Larger subs tend to have lower FS, but not a huge change will be heard by ear. Your available space is much better suited for a 12" in my opinion.

Fi Q you can find at Ficaraudio.com, the TC OEM is no longer in production as TC sounds has died as a company, so you'll have to find it on the forum. SPY has 2 10" ones for sale on here right now.

You can check out Mach5audio.com for the IXL series.

and of course there is another sub not many speak of that has great SQ in that price range. (no, not the funky pup) a OZ Audio Matrix series sub is also a great choice. I used to own a couple.

Good choice for sure. Another great sub would be the treo tsx or Boston G5. Two of my personal favorites. Both require so little power to get loud, but can eat double the rms all day. Amazing quality for the money

sealed will have a nice flat response, or do ported tuned low. I generaly go sealed in most of my installs just for that reason.
When you say "flat response," are you referring across the frequency range? And would porting be around 30Hz?

Here's what I learned from their forums:

"Q 12 – We recommend using a sealed box in the neighborhood of .8-1.5 cubic feet of volume (after all displacements for those wondering). (I personally think that 1.2-1.3 cubic feet is optimal imo)

Ported box we recommend using 1.8-2.5 cubic feet @ 28-33Hz (I personally think that a 32hz tuning is optimal, and has the most output and is still the most musical daily driving). Use 12-16 square inches of vent area per cubic foot of volume."

I'm sure the whole sealed v. ported thing has been beaten to death, but it seems that you lose some "musicality" when going ported but you increase SPL? And having a box tuned at 32Hz... does that mean it will hit that low or be loudest/softest at that frequency, etc?

Thanks for everyone's help so far!
