Best sub for my application?

My budget is $300 and I'm looking for a sub that's very accurate and can hit low (might be difficult given my budget). I don't really need SPL as I'm more interested in SQ. Also, when recommending a sub, please let me know if a sealed or ported (and tuned to what frequency) box would be ideal for the sub. Thanks in advance.

I'll give you props for properly titling this thread. Most ask "what's the best sub" without thinking of application.

Two things you need to tell us though.

1) How much space do you have?

2) What amp are you running?

I plan on purchasing the amp once I decide on the sub so it's open as far as that goes.

The largest box I can fit is...

length - up to 25"

height - up to 15.5"

depth - up to 15"

Also, are you willing to buy a used sub off of the forums or are you only looking for brand new in box subs?
I could buy used, as long someone hasn't beat the s**t out of it, haha.

+1. U might look into a TC OEM. You can do a small sealed box so you don't take up a ton of room. And they still handle the lows with ease.

Okay so that totals out to ~2.5 cubic feet internal. Let me check into some things that'll fit into that box nicely. A 12" Fi Q ported to 32hz sounds //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif

12" single max
not room for a 15" IMO
Yeah definitely a single 12", he could get a 15" sealed in there but I think a ported 12" would be much more optimal.

Look into RE SE, Fi Q, SSA Icon.

I'm not sure on pricing, and my school doesn't agree with the Fi website so I can't check the pricing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

15" Q sealed. 15" RL-P sealed. 15" RD Sonance sealed.

What about an MJ-18? They like small, sealed boxes dont they fellas?

Either one 15 sealed or a single 12 ported. Your choice. And is it 300 for sub or 300 for sub and amplifier?

I'm not sure what a TC OEM or a single max is, haha. Can you elaborate or provide a link?

Thanks for doing that.

$300 for just a sub.

a TC OEM is a sub made by TC Sounds when they were still around. They tend to go up on the forum quite often, but I generally see 10"s. Maybe I just don't pay attention though.

Also by 12" single max I think he meant most you should do is a single 12", not more.

I forgot all about the RL-p by soundsplinter, look into those. Great subs sealed or ported.
