best sub for 300rms?

300 rms to play to with. what sub should i go with? i was thinking maybe an R. would it be underpowered? id like it to be a 10. 300 rms@ 2ohms. any suggestions will be greatly appriaciated. thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

unpowered is a myth. it just wont get as loud as it can, but with little power you need something with high effiecency
yeah im aware. not getting as much out of the sub as i can out of the sub is what i should of said instead of saying underpowered. anything you would reccomend?

in a situation like ths, 300rms @ 2ohms, would it be that unsafe to wire to 1 ohm? considering the electrical would not have to be that strong to support it?

wring less resistance is harder on the electrical system.. and how many ohms is determed by the amp and not the sub (well what it can handle, resistance is deteremined by the sub). still 300 rms is nothing on a stock system.. i would worry till about 1000 rms

it's still underpowered since that sub could take more
i know what you mean but

when ppl say underpowerered, they generally mean - the itnernet has started this myth that giving a speaker too little power will destory it.

but its just a bad way to word it.. when they say underpowered.. its the amp that underpowered. trying to make more power with an amp that cant.. is another story.

so would u agree with me in a situation like this, with this low of power @ 2 ohms. he would be ok to wire at 1 ohm and get more power out of the amp?

it depends on the amp if its 1 ohm stable and if the subs can be wired to 1 ohm, but yeah 300 watts is nothing, if it can be done, by all means do it.

i run over 1k with an 85 alt and stock bat and minor dimming issues, just big 3 done

well i know ppl have ran the kicker zx's which are only rated at 2ohms at 1 ohm safely, provided they have the electrical to back it

there will be 2 amps in the car. a 4 chan for the speakers than the little mono block for the sub so it will be around 500 rms. im not worried about the electrical system at all, the big 3 will be done in 4g (dont even think its nessisary but just to make sure) and there is a 110 amp stock alt in the car. the amp is a zx300.1. birth sheet says 350 so its a little over 300 rms i have to play with, with this setup. how much would i can if the amp were to be ran at 1 ohm? can it be done safely? the electrical system can handle it, with out question.

i wasnt recommending to do it if you cant. you asked.. i just wasnt sure if you knew "why" it is and isnt possible..

yeah im 99% sure kicker amps are only 2 ohm stable.. well the zx models at least

see above post

& i was going off a hypothetical situation, not suggesting it

ok then i stand corrected, i have no on hands exp with them so.. i dont wanna lead you the wrong way.. you can try it im sure and wont hurt anything but it over heats or starts cutting out easily.. then stop because if it keeps happening, it will prolly die eventually

with imp rise you might be ok tho..

also if you're only gonna be using one sub or only that amp and plan on it for awhile.. you might be interested in looking at a bigger sub.. if you have the room. cone area ftw

id rather just run the amp at 2 ohms and have no questiong about it being unsafe or not but back to the original question. can any one suggest some subs that would preform well with 300rms?
