best sub for 250 bucks TOPS

funny how someone with SQ in their name has a bandpass box. I would get rid of the bp box for sure. if you are not tunning or making your own I would pick up a sealed box, and this is coming from xperince. My first box was a dual 12" bp from CC. sounded like ***.

their are lots of subs that will do just fine with 200 watts in a sealed box. Just make sure it is 4ohm DVC or 2ohm SVC so u can get your 2 ohm load.

If you can, set up a paypal account attached to your bank account, then you can possibly pick a sub up from any of these online forums. Most people prefer paypal when selling items so it'll help you out alot if you can start one. Why no ebay? You can grab some stuff real cheap. Check ebay even if you're just looking for a local pick-up option around you, you can see alot of different items through ebay.

Ditch the Pre-fab box...period. Pre-fab boxes ****...ESPECIALLY Pre-fab bandpass...
NG

why are they no good...cuz they are not tuned to my specs? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Thanks the pay pal idea makes a hell of a lot of sense...as for ebay ...i can't use it as a option because im just not hi tech enough i dont know anything about pc's or credit cards or payment systems so i rather just buy a sub from a dealer and stay away from that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

yes there are many online forums however how many are as good as caraudio.com //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif also used coils are not what im looking for i know i know ,,,,,,etc etc i just want a brand new sub lol 2 much hassle trying to find a used 1

the SQ part refers to my door kicks [ alpine type r's]

i know its a spl monster hahah bad name....so do large SEALED boxes perform well...i have always heard this and that but some nice big boxes just go //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif BOOOOOOOOM

ok going out on a limb here.....what if i ran a single alpine type E [which i have]

in the bandpass and have another sub in a sealed box .....would i inturn get the really low notes and that ''sealed punch''? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

i have heard good things about elemental designs .....but not much on the cost anybuddy have some of this subs....either that or im just gonna go plan K .....kicker lol....i know the SQ is not as good as a round sub....but **** a L5 or L7 can just pound and the wiring options are also very desirable

Yes. Bandpass boxes need to be designed specifically for your subs. You will not have good results throwing them into a prefab bandpass box. A custom designed ported box would easily, easily outperform a prefab bandpass in every aspect.

Depends on what you mean. Large sealed boxes are more sound quality oriented boxes; flatter frequency response, better low frequency extension, and better transient response and group delay. However, all this comes at the cost of having lower output levels.

DO NOT DO THIS

You DO NOT want to mix and match subs and/or boxes like that. The results will very likely be poor, very poor.

what about the JL AUDIO W3 V2?
Not an SPL monster, but have very nice sound quality.

how much is that in bc canada any1 know? for a 12''
No idea

so how about this....you know your stuff so here is my Q....

say i have 2 amps....and use one to power the sealed box with a 10 and use the other for a bandpass 12....is that possible or is it a waste...i have really good friend in tronto who is learning to make boxes...etc fibreglass and all ....so i can get him to built both boxes to the specs.

room is not a consideration...lots of trunk room in the 92 taurus i dunno the cube feet sorry

mixmatching bandpass and sealed, not a good idea. What will most likely happen is that at the different frequencies, the subs are going to put out different sound waves, and with a bandpass and sealed box, with different subs in each, you may get cancellation, distorted sounding, or it may just plain sound like crap.

No offense, but the Alpine Type E sub was only put out on the market for price competition with cheaper competitors. The only place I have seen carry them is Circuit City. Don't get me wrong, they are made by a very high quality company, but the Type E's just weren't made to accurately demonstrate Alpine's quality and craftsmanship, they were made to compete with cheaper brands. I wouldn't go through all the trouble of fiberglassing and custom boxing your enclosures quite yet.

is it true that a 15 is bad for a SQ set up.....i have been told differnt things by differnt people

Not if you can get the 15 to respond like a 10, which I don't think has been seen yet. A 15 has more surface area to push back and forth, it pushes more air, and usually results in a loud kinda boomy sound, not the tight, accurate bass you want in a SQ setup. If you like the sound of a 15 and you have all else SQ, go for it. But for a true SQ setup, you wouldn't wanna go with 15's.

Umm...no.

Your enclosure design is going to be far more influential on the "sound" of the driver than the diameter will be. You can get 15's to "sound like" 10's, or the other way around. Just depends on the Qtc and what driver we're talking about.
