best sub for 250 bucks TOPS

yeah the whole 10's are for tight bass and 15's are for low and loud bass is kind of a myth.

to an extent its true. cone surface area, xmax, all these things do matter in the frequencies a sub can hit and how fast it responds, BUT

your enclosure matters 10x more then anything.

in the right enclosure a good 15 will be able to keep up double kicks just as good as a 10.

its all in the enclosure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

say i have 2 amps....and use one to power the sealed box with a 10 and use the other for a bandpass 12....is that possible or is it a waste...i have really good friend in tronto who is learning to make boxes...etc fibreglass and all ....so i can get him to built both boxes to the specs.
Still a waste. The issue isn't with the amps, it's with using two different boxes and two different subs that are going to have two totally different frequency responses and sound absolutely horrible together.

is it true that a 15 is bad for a SQ set up.....i have been told differnt things by differnt people
As was said, it is a myth and it is false that a 15" sub can not be a sound quality sub. A sub's sound quality is totally unrelated to it's diameter.

Thats 2 bad ....i wish that set up would be sweet .....ok how about this....a nice pair of 8's in a sealed box....and use a proper vented box for a single 12......what about that?

i dont see why they sound so bad it makes sense //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif tho i guesss...****er!!

any suggestions for a fan of punchy bass and low end extension ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

You are totally not understanding this. There is absolutely NO POINT in mixing and matching sub sizes and boxes like that. Just find a single or pair of nice 12" subs (or whatever size), put them in a box you like and let them play the entire low frequency spectrum. The results of doing this will be better than with what you are trying to do.

You want punchy "bass"?? Then you need to upgrade your frontstage with good midbass drivers. That "punchy" bass you hear is typically in the lower midbass region, not in the subbass region. Upgrade your front stage to include good mids, then find a sub or two (of the same size, in the same size/style box) to handle ~50hz and down. BAAM! You're done.

Why not try an RL-P out for size //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

they are very very nice.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

whats the voice coil config?

dual 4 ohm i would assume....what is the cone made from...poly?

manget weight is? clue me in dude ....

the most vital thing is....as we all know the RMS rating and Sound Quailty....at my local audio store i can get a 300 watts rms alpine type S 12'' dvc

it pounds!!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif so what is the price [with taxes and shipping] total for that driver?

Its a black anodized aluminum cone. http://www.soundsplinter.com has all the details, but the pics of the rl-p stil need to be updated. If you want to see what the current cone looks like, click my cardomain link at the bottom of my sig. If you get a 15 it will look exactly like mine but if you get a 12, it will have a plain black basket, not the speckled basket like the 15. Shipping weight of the rl-p 15 was 37 lbs. I dont know what the mag weight is, but Im sure its on the website. SQ is a giant leap above that of the type r as is the power handling. It is flat out a much better sub. The rms for the rl-p is 500w; however, it is rated extremely conservatively and can handle up to 1500w in a sealed box (although its definitely NOT recommended for the average user). Anything from 400-1kw is great for an rl-p.

I second the rl-p recommendation! Its an awesome sub.

ya thats a kick *** sub.....woven leads....good cone material i think that i have never seen that cone material used before....it used a lot in formers to wrap the coil on tho!!!

what kinda coil does it have ...copper clad Aluminum ??? pure copper?

it sure can handle a lot wow how come it handles more in a sealed box tho??

thats kinda funky !!! 2 bad the terminals are not all on one side...thats the only thing i can say bad about it ahahhahahahah other than that its quite pimped

what kinda box should i throw her in for best results??

im thinking a large sealed box so i can pound it hard with good sq and decent spl

so thanks for helping me out pal...do they send to canada?

WOW that sound spilter is some high grade S#$$ i went and checked it out.,...**** dude that so pimped.....

it's big *** magnet reminds me of a old jl audio w6 hahahahha for the price this sub kicks the comp's *** ....**** a alpine type R would be a waste of money vs this sub ...im so glad you added your 2 cents dude!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

you saved me a shit load of money....but what about the power it gets....

my amp will do 300 watts RMS @ 2ohms.....bridged....so will that give me any bass ...that thing uses so much power...what kinda amp should i get....like something along the lines of a D block amp with 500 rms i would assume....

you have been such a great help

yeah you are an idiot. "get some manners before i slaughter your whole family" uhhh......

go to http://www.pimpmycar.com or something, its obvious throughout you posts that you want to have the "dopest" setup possible, and dont want/care/understand """"SHEER SQ"""""

and wtf were you talking about the rl-p and its terminals? on the same side??? wtf? why would you care about that ?
