Best sub around $100

I am stepping down from 2 JBL 10's, looking for less bass. I am probably getting a new Kicker zx300.1 mono amp and a single 10 (possibly 12) in a sealed enclosure. For around $100, what would be the best sub setup? I am not sure what I want in my system, I think it would be SQ. I am considering a Kicker CVR. I should be able to listen to them in a local store (moving stuff around, dont have one on demo right now but will in a week or two). What are some other good subs for around 100 bucks? I dont have the amp yet, so that can change if needed to fit a particular sub. Thanks.

As said, I think I am wanting SQ. I stopped at the store this morning and no CVR's on demo. I have heard a JL audio sub and the Kicker comps, I will say the Kicker comps sounded better to me, so I am thinking maybe SQ isnt what I am looking for. I am looking for suggestions for both SQ, SQL, and SPL. Once I listen to the kickers, I will know which I want and have a list of them easily accessible. Thanks everyone.

97 4runner. I heard the JL, and I was not impressed. It was built into a wall, not in a real enclosure which may be the problem.
