best SQ sub for hatchback?

Thank you all for your input, I was expecting to hear alot more people recommend the RE audio or ID products, but... Thats why I wanted to ask //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif Keep the opinions coming! And while we're on the topic of subs... I plan to run a set of high quality components up front, and nothing but a sub in the rear. What would be the negatives of this? I have literally no extra space in the car, and I'm trying to keep it to 1 amp (Obviously missing rear-fill, and sucks for people in the back)

What exactly is this supposed to mean? How will I know when I've gotten there?
Take this ridiculous notion of "SQ" anything and piss on it. It's we todd did.
Its the best way I could think of describing the sub with the context of this thread, since the OP asked about "SQ" subs. Thats how Nick described it with his innitial design goals. It's most certainly not a SPL type sub and I wouldn't say it has compromises between "SQ" and even worse "SQL." What you quoted from me meant nothing of how the sub turned up but just what the goal was with the initial design. I am not saying it is the end all driver for sub bass frequencies, just that it works quite wel and was not ever intended to be anything but used for reproducing music and not rattling mirrors.

The sub has blended very well with my mids and tweeters, and has I guess a very "natural" sound and doesn't sound like any sub I have heard before. The music in my truck now has a full sounding bottom range without the thump or boom that is typical of subs I have heard before just plain low end music as "clean" sounding as I have ever heard.

I don't claim to be no master of how to describe things I just try with what I know, but I guess thats not enough. Mostly just passing on what Nick at SI said and my personal feelings towards the driver for what I have heard from it. Nothing more nothing less, so now I will stop rambling and digging myself a hole and go back to the sidelines.

Hertz 12" mille ml 3000 got a 88/100 possible score in car audio mag and a 47/50 in sound quality. The 12" jl audio w6 got a 90/100 in car audio mag and a 45/50 in sound quality. I would personally bet u my left testicle that u would love either of those subs. Their reviews can be found at caraudiomag.com and if u google those subwoofers they can be found also. The jl audio 12 w6 was voted "best subwoofer tested" by the magazine.
Thanks for the info... I read the article, now I'm even more excited about getting mine in. I was impressed with all of my previous JL subs in the past, and am eager to hear how the new W6s sound.

JL audio subs have had some of the best rating for sq but there are a lot of good subs out there. Since you're in a hatchback you can do a sealed box and maybe go with a 10" to save on space and it'll sound great.

I have used, owned and heard plenty of subs from Polk, JL, RE, MTX, Fosgate, Kicker, Vega, Crystal and so on and the sub that really impressed me for sq was the ID. The ID subs seem to be the most musical, detailed and accurate sub. Depending on how many watts you have and your budget for each sub check out the IDQv2 and IDQv3 subs.
