Best/SQ - component set - NO budget help

what is your real budget? and yes you do have a budget otherwise you wouldn't be driving a mustang? 800 and under? 1500 and under etc? your going to get alot of apples to oranges answers unless you give a ballpark estimate of how much you want to spend on the speakers.

when it comes to a point the insatall will make or break how it sounds if you think its more equipment based you have ALOT to learn. a home tower speaker is pretty easy to set up and listen to as opossed to a car (the lemans was the closet thing to a home stereo type set up you could have in a car and it still was alot different) to me speakers of that cost are about as wasteful as it gets unless you want the prestige of owning them...still doesnt mean that a 300 dollar set can't sound/perform better
Like I said they need to properly be install, he wants the best high end? What is more high end than that rainbow set without going active? I know I would trade my DLS's to own it, hell even for the seas lotus references I would trade them! I think the reason my DLS sound so good is the way they are installed...Worked out very will for my application in my truck, took a long time though and I still have to Deaden, Seal and foam the rear doors.

pft, only 10,000 for each midrange, I'll take 4 and a couple tweeters if I had no budget //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I say $600 online. I dont buy in stores there all rip off. The mb quarts qsd213 are $495. The boston acoustics z5 are $575.

All depends on how you look at it. To me its worth buying local so I have a place to take my equip if I should need service. Not only that I have a good relationship with my local dealer so I get everything for a little over cost.

first of all.. bigman wants "high-end" speakers... that's usually talking about 800+ for a set of speakers that he want's to play "LOUD"... but he wants to pay 600 max...hmm.. he shouldn't be asking for high-end stuff... he should just be asking for "Loudest speaker he can buy for $600"... high end speakers cost more because of better materials and usually better SQ... Sounds like he needs to modify his Door of his convertible for 6X9 and feed each side at least 100 watts... people need to understand that the power rating of a speaker does not matter too much when SQ is consider, only just the amount of CLEAN power going into the speaker...also.. his topic was read as "best/SQ-component set- NO budget help"

he just have to do some more homework and learn more about sound quality

Umm, I said $600 online finding a good price. The boston acoustics z5 are $575 which means there $1000 in the store. You dont call that high end $1000 for components?

I wouldnt go with 5 1/4s . Go with at least 6 1/2s to get more midbass. Not saying 5s are bad but i havent had any luck with them in the midbass area. I have 7s in my mustang doors.

Hey bigman I know you're taking power handling into consideration but just so you know a speaker that calls for 100w rms will have no real problems with 150 watts. My Black Gold 6.5s in my doors only call for 80 - 100 watts rms but my PRS-X720's birthsheet states it is giving them 244 watts rms. But because I have the crossover set right and the gains set right I won't blow them.

Adam71 is right. I have been active feeding 200w to each of my mids and 100 to each tweet. It goes loud and never blown anything. By the way look into focal 165k2p they will do what you want with good SQ.

for the $600 limit go with the DLS Iridiums, with a 3 inch voice coil I hear they will handle 150 watts, however i only have 75 running to mine and it is enough, they are rated for 100 watts RMS, but so are their components with 2 inch VC's?

msg tplaya07 on this forum and he can get them to you for a good price.
